That's great to hear.

IMHO while I also think the open-source community needs to do some work to become more welcoming to females and minorities, the real elephant in the room is just how western culture dominated most projects are. Sure language barrier plays a role, but getting the many Indian, Chinese, Indonesian etc nerds on board will really be a huge win for everyone involved.

There's a wage problem there too. If some developer in India or China is working the 996 there is no chance they will spend time off work developing open source.

True but also they could actually finance themselves from donations (not applicable to China obviously, for the most part)
