This just happened twice, so might be a real bug. When I select text in my comment and hit the link button, paste the url, and save, there is an "!" inserted before the bracketed text. This seems to prevent the link from appearing.

If I delete the ! it works fine.

I'm on android. Dunno if the app is on iOS.

Definitely a bug, a ! is used when you want to embed an image.
