MODERATORS

The mod of a small community I follow appears to be banned from our instance. I really like the community, and I don't want to let it die. Is there a way that I could become the mod for that community?

I tried messaging the old mod, but I haven't gotten a response. He shows as banned, so I don't even know if he's getting my messages.

How can I confirm that the mod is banned from the instance, and they are not moderating the community anymore? Can I take over the moderation of that community? And how?

Thanks in advance!

The admin of the instance should have the highest authority, depending on the instance they might be happy to have someone take over.

Thanks! It's for the lemmy.ml instance. How can I look up who's the admin?

Edit: I found them. You can look up the admins for an instance in the sidebar of the main page.

They have a sub for these community transfer requests: https://lemmy.ml/c/community_requests

Request there along with what you've done to contact the existing mod and they'll likely help you.
