Former AEW star Brian Pillman, Jr. has been featured in vignettes on NXT in recent weeks and his debut appears to be imminent.

The company showed him sitting in a living room watching old clips that are a mix of footage from WCW with links to his father and clips of various WWE Superstars over the years. However, when he makes his WWE debut, it appears that he won't be referenced as Brian Pillman, Jr.

As was reported last week here on WrestlingNews.co, WWE recently filed for the trademark for the name "Lexis King." Lexis is short for Alexis, the name of Pillman's sister who passed away. The King name is the name of his late mother Melanie after she remarried after Pillman, Sr.'s passing.

While not 100 percent confirmed by the company, the word going around the WWE PC is that the Lexis King name has been earmarked for Pillman, Jr.

It is probably a rights thing, but it will be interesting as more and more talent trade sides. Cody and Jade kept the majority of their characters, but that's not going to fly with everyone. Most AEW transfers have really leaned into their own creative ideas, to varying degrees of success. While the competition is good and I hope the wrestlers go where they are happiest, I can't help but think we are going to have more cases going forward of "it" factors being lost.
