A community about music production would be cool! I feel like the current music community is mostly about listening to music or making recommendations, it'd be cool to have one that's dedicated to production.

OH I'M AN IDIOT this is community suggestions!
Ummm...how about one for musicians to share their song covers? Some enterprising user made a similar community on another instance and it would be SO MUCH COOLER on beehaw.
I'd love one for Crafting, but understand if you feel this is too under "creative" to qualify.
I feel like the creative umbrella covers so much that isn't necessarily what people are making and I'd love to see everyone's personal crafts: knitting, crochet, embroidery, cross stitch, 3D origami, sewing projects in one place.
Retro/decades which would include posts, pictures and nostalgia from the eras we grew up in to recall/remind us of those special times that meant something to us.
As long as it doesn't just devolve into people posting hot photos of their parents/grandparents like r/oldschoolcool.
I would love a proper Miniature Painting community. there is one at lemmy.world, but only has 13 users
I second this. A mini painting community or expanded to scale model and wargaming projects would be nice.
Some community suggestions from Reddit that I loved to browse would be amazing if there are communities of them on here at Beehaw:
- c/programming
- c/programminghumor
- c/learnmachinelearning
- c/AIresearch - discussion of new and upcoming AI/ML papers
- c/CScareerQuestions
c/mobility
c/cargobikes
Physical media? (For collectors of film, game vinyl, etc)
Running! The Reddit running community was helpful and very active and now they've shut down entirely
Something for amateur music producers to share work in, get feedback, kudos, whatevs.
There were some communities on Reddit that I quickly gave up on because they were either dead, or full of jerks.
Given how many posts about Reddit have not been on the threads set up for them, a Reddit-specific community to post in might be worth considering. Though I don't know for how long that'll remain an issue, and it could devolve into navel-gazing.
A subreddit for Aquariums? (Fishkeeping, aquascaping & plants, ponds, questions and discussions etc).
There was a pretty active and generally positive sub on reddit. If such a place hasnt already been created on another instance that might be a fun community.
An equivalent for r/contagiouslaughter, and similar. That kind of humor specifically, or funny videos, vs the simpler meme and knock knock jokes kind that can crop up in jokes & humor?
A lot of good suggestions here. I miss /r/Formula1, but that’s probably too niche for Beehaw at this point. That got me thinking along the lines of “motorsports,” with would be nice and broad. A wildcard option is “livesports” where people can discuss, well, sports that are live. Live threads when watching live sports are fun.
Thank you for doing this! A few suggestions I haven't seen or couldn't find, at least, are below.
- Spanish / Español
- AskWomen / AskWomenOver30
- Wilderness Backpacking
- Medicine
- Cooking
A documentaries would be great
