Is good video, he made some interesting points, but I still see myself recommending distros based on their desktop environments.
Linux
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Yeah, I have the same feeling, I'm going to go ahead and continue recommending distros.
The problem is if you're looking for a hot take to have, you have to find some popular and widely stated opinion and tear it down. But, sometimes things are popular and widely stated for good reasons (get vaccines!), and so the search for the new hot take too often ends up being a shortsighted attempt to tear down something that's perfectly reasonable. Such as the life of a content creator.
Idk, I always recommend Debian and only give steps to use other WM or DE.
A beginner doesn't care about Flatpak or Snap or Zapp or other, but I won't be able to support them if they use a different one from me.
