I am trying cachy-os. Everything with the latex packages went sideways. If you are having problems too, try texlive-full from AUR. Thogh, I also switched to typst from Latex, Latex is still widely used by scientific packages.

Yup, suddenly latexmk was missing from my system recently. Installing that fixed it
