Mahomes and Rodgers.

Stafford and Russ probably gets a few votes.

Nobody else is remotely close

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Mahomes, Rodgers, Stafford, Russ.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I mean.....TODAY? Mahomes and Rodgers are 100%. Maybe...MAYBE Stafford.

Hurts, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Cousins either need time and/or Super Bowl rings to get in there

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Mahommes and Rodgers are first ballot unanimous HOF.

We could make arguments for Russ, Kirk, and Matt Stafford.

Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow and Josh Allen have nice resumes too

I figure Daniel Jones and Zach Wilson will both at some point visit the hall of fame

Since Marty ice is not retired, but will be soon, if add him. Honestly as a falcons fan I’m doubtful he gets I because 28-3 always finds a way to pop up, despite Matt having the highest passer rating in a Super Bowl while also playing his ass off that game. He’s got all kinds of passing records, an MVP, a bunch of pro bowls (which would be more but he decided not to appear for one reason or another), and he is just a really awesome guy. If you read about what he’s done for Atlanta and all the kids he has helped, it’s really amazing the effort he puts in to helping people. I legitimately think he’s one of the most genuine NFL athletes of all time.

Recently Retired/Not Yet Eligible:

  • Brady (1st ballot)

  • Brees (1st ballot)

  • Roethlisberger (not 1st ballot, eventual)

Current players:

  • Mahomes (could retire tomorrow and would already be 1st ballot)

  • Rodgers (slam dunk 1st ballot)

  • Mike Glennon (1st ballot)

Aside from Mahomes and Rodgers? There are a few that are borderline but probably wouldn’t make it.

Matt Stafford comes to mind for his impressive stats and his Super Bowl ring. Kirk Cousins has revitalized his career In Minnesota. Lamar Jackson is the only one not named “Patrick Mahomes” or “Aaron Rodgers” who has an MVP. That’s the best I can come up with.

I think people are way off saying guys like Stafford and Cousins. You have to look at what makes a HoF QB... It's either Superbowls (and usually multiple or one + other accolades), Pro Bowls and APs, MVPs and stats

In the grand scheme of things, Stafford and Cousins are guys whose stats would've made them HoF'ers in a different era probably, but they are pretty much just good QBs for the era they played in.

Mahomes and Rodgers are locks, no questions asked. Russ is probably a no, but borderline.

Outside of those 3, I would argue that the QB with the 4th best chance of they retired today that is currently playing is honestly Lamar. That isn't to say he would get in.... He wouldn't, not by a long shot, but he has more of a case than guys like Stafford and Cousins.

matt stafford will be top 10 in career passing yards within a season and a half, probably less. not saying he’d be first ballot like rodgers or a lock like mahomes, but if he retired today, it would be a crime to not put someone with his numbers and general career arc in the HOF. everyone above him on that list is either in or will enter the HOF at some point, save for matt ryan (who would be in without 28-3).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Tom Brady… what do you mean he retired??? What kind of fool do you take me for?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Mahomes and Rodgers, for sure. Stafford, after a while probably gets in

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Crazy how just a half decade ago we had a handful of QBs who would fall under this category

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Rodgers 100% lock. Mahomes 99% -- he'd get criticized for only playing 6 seasons as a starter, but 2 SB rings, 2 MVP's, 2 SBMVP's, 5 pro bowls, and 2 All Pros kind of counters any arguments about longevity IMO. Maybe it just prevents him from being 1st ballot. You could make an argument for Wilson and Stafford, but I definitely wouldn't call either one a lock.

Looking at the other veteran QB's, honestly I don't think anyone else makes the cut if they retire today. We've seen the full turnover of generations in the past few years. The great QB generation of 2000-2020 is gone. Brady, Manning, Manning 2, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rivers, Ryan, Warner and Favre if you want to include them, are all retired. Rodgers, Wilson, and Stafford are all at the end of their careers. Even guys like Newton, Palmer, Romo, and McNabb, that sort of made up that 2nd tier, are all retired. The top QB's currently are all too young and haven't accomplished anywhere near enough yet, and the best veterans that still have a decent stretch ahead of them are... Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, and Derek Carr? No one has really accomplished anything notable.

Brock Purdy. 😉

My UNCLE RICO is the GOAT of all HOFers...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Rodgers and Mahomes are locks.

Russ is a wild card. Had he called it a career in Seattle he likely gets in. The last year and a half in Denver have done a lot of damage to his legacy. Had he won two rings in Seattle, I’d say he would have been a lock even with recent Denver fiasco. But with one, who knows.

Stafford is another interesting name. Everyone uses the stupid “1 pro bowl appearance” against him, but the dude got shafted for years keeping the Lions semi-competitive (he threw for over 5k yards and 41 TDs in 2011 yet didn’t get voted to the pro bowl). His Super Bowl win was a big boost to his credentials, and he already is towards the top of most passing records. If he can get healthy and string together a few more winning seasons in LA before calling it quits I think he gets in (if Eli gets in, I don’t see how they don’t vote in Stafford).

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Rodgers is the last of the generation of great quarterbacks. He’s been consistently pretty good to great for years and has a Super Bowl under his belt. He’s in.

Patrick Mahomes is arguably the greatest to ever do it. If he retired today he wouldn’t have as long of a career as Rodgers but with his skills and accomplishments I think he’s a hall of famer.

I think that Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson are hall of famers if they have long careers, but they wouldn’t be in if they retired today.

I hope Russell Wilson doesn’t play himself out of the hall of fame. I think up to 2021, he’s borderline in.

Maybe Matthew Stafford sneaks in before anyone notices.

Why am I not seeing more Stafford? Genuinely curious. Dude has crazy stats and won a bowl late in his career.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

i know pro bowls don't matter but it is a bit of an eyebrow raiser he only has one pro bowl considering how easy it is to make it. also, he has no all-pro's.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That’s insane to me. When he had Megatron he was crazy.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Rodgers 100%

Mahomes more than likely

Stafford, Russel Wilson the only other 2 I can think of that would even be worth having a conversation about

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Aaron Rodgers guaranteed, Mahommes as much as I hate it is there and the only argument, which I don’t quite subscribe to, is longevity since he’s only been in the league for 5-6 years now, and Matthew stafford has to have serious consideration because of the numbers he’s put up and his ring. That’s it

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Joe Namath can't be in the HOF if Matthew Stafford isn't

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes. End of list.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

If their careers were over today, did Mahomes do enough yet? I think Rodgers is the only lock based on his career to this point. Russell maybe. I think a few will eventually get there, but at this point of their careers, not many.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Mahomes and Rogers are locks.

The crazy part is 2 years ago Russell Wilson was a lock...
He actually played his way out of the HOF
