This doesn't include post season stats either.

Luck was sacked 11 times in his whole playoff career (8 games), Burrow has been sacked 29 times in the playoffs (7 games)

Just curious, anyone got the average release times for Luck vs Burrow?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Joe Burrow has already played more games than Andrew Luck? That seems insane.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

2.84 sacks per game for Joe Burrow
2.09 sacks per game for Andrew Luck
2.02 sacks per game for Mac Jones

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Luck was soft

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

While both their lines were/are bad, they occasionally hold the ball too long looking for plays.

Sacks are not just an OL stat

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Sam Howell gonna reach 300 sacks at that rate

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Guys, don't worry Orlando Brown Jr is going to fix this.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Qbs sacks are pretty consistent regardless of team or oline. Meaning qbs drive their sacks alot more than people give them credit. Obviously a bad oline doesn't help and makes it worse but someone who doesn't take sacks won't take alot of them compared to a qb that takes a lot regardless of the quality of oline. That being said taking as many as those guys definitely is determental to the longevity of their career.

Luck wasn’t nearly as injury prone though. Cincy really needs to get this situated. Burrow has missed a full season in HS, FBS, and now 2x in the NFL but it’s the list of injuries that is crazy. He was injured twice during the SB run. Started the season injured and then finished off by this second major injury to the wrist on his throwing hand. If he keeps taking these beating he won’t live up to his potential let alone his contract.

The NFL should just allow O-line and D-line players to be the only positions allowed, nay encouraged, to take roids.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Not great, bob

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Well one went to the superbowl... so there's that

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What about his though

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

When it’s Sam howell sacks are a “qb stat” though.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Once again sacks are a qb stat

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Is this play style sustainable 🤔

Unlike in British comedy, the people doing the sacking have not been sacked.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

At what point does the Bengals' O-Line problems become a coaching problem rather than personnel problem?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It just points out that Andrew Luck ended up suffering a ruptured spleen and then retiring from football after a relatively brief career. Joe Burrow is starting to see injuries pile up now, and could suffer the same fate. We in Indy thought Luck was strong and physical and counted on him to be here for us as long as Manning was. We have not been the same since he left. Cincinnati is in the same boat, and Joe doesn't even appear as physical or as strong as Luck was, although mentally every bit as tough. Cincy needs to protect this guy like he is their grandma back there because he IS their franchise! Draft or trade for a#1 offensive line!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

joe burrow simply holds onto the ball too long. granted, he was better last season, but in 2021 when they went to the super bowl he made his o-line look a lot worse than it was. he was one of the worst QBs at avoiding pressures-into-sacks.

Welcome aboard the CTE Special.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

OBJr sucks ass. Tried to tell them.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Sacks are a QB stat.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Reminds me of Matt Stafford while on Detroit

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Luck ran more than Burrow has, though, which subjected him to worse hits from faster players

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Looks like we have a new Captain in The War.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

If the Bengals drafted Sewell instead of Chase they don't get close to the SB in 2021.
However they win the 2022 SB.

WRs are the most over-valued thing in all of sports.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Remember when he told the Bengals to draft Chase?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

He needs to move around in the pocket

RIP Joey B

Everyone was yelling to get him a line during year 1. Here we are 4 seasons later and has anything been done to address the line? Nope.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

We revamped the whole line clown

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

That Chase/Sewell graph just looks rough every year

I know Chase is good but he needs Burrow alive

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

So many teams straight up slack on investing in an offensive line. Bitch about QB durability, baby the piss out of them, but don't pay for protection. These dudes aren't used to being blasted so often, they're more fragile than RBs and defensive players laying hit after hit. Teams know this but just don't seem to invest. He'll be lucky to last as long as Luck did. Luck might still be playing and be one of the all-time greatest by now if he didn't get trashed so much.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Sacks are a QB stat a lot of the time

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Luck was a very tough QB but also knew how to find a throw when he was in trouble.

Burrow is very much a "I can probably dodge these two guys and make an even better throw" QB. He can do it a lot of the time, but he'll also take a lot more hits doing so.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Burrow also plays against pretty consistently top defenses 6 times a year.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Really sucks that the teams that get these #1 prospects usually don't have a functional O Line to protect the guys.

Luck was smart IMO to get out while he was still somewhat sane - he is back studying at Stanford and is coaching high school football.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

What about the Texans first QB David Carr? What was his experience?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Sam Howell coming for that record.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

For anybody who is a causal and doesn’t know, our management tried to build a better o line. We’ve spent decent money and replaced nearly every person on the damn line. They’re better than the Super Bowl run, but still not that great though. Also burrow sometimes just doesn’t know how to throw the ball away and just takes a sack.

Some people just say shit without knowing anything. Talking about the ones who say we’re ruining burrow and shit like that when we’ve done everything we could do to help.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Get the dude and o-line asap or he'll be outta the NFL just as fast as luck if not faster.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

The important stat is how many head and neck injuries.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I view Joe Burrow almost the same way I viewed Andrew Luck. Andrew Luck held onto the ball too long and never managed to cut down on his propensity to turn the ball over. He made the playoffs as consistently as he did because the AFC South was a weak division when he played. Joe Burrow doesn't have the same turnover issue that Luck did. I view Cincinnati's defense as being more of a reason why he's had the playoff success he's had more than his play though. NFL fans all have their players they view as overrated and not as great as the majority of fans and media make them out to be. Burrow and Luck were on that list for me.

People may not like what I'm saying about them holding onto the ball too long and will say that they have (had for Luck's case) bad offensive lines. My response to that is by pointing out that there have been numerous examples of quarterbacks with injured or just subpar offensive lines who have managed to keep their sack numbers down because they know when to get rid of the ball. After 3 seconds, it's no longer the offensive line's fault if you get sacked or hit.

Don't get me wrong. Luck and Burrow are franchise quarterbacks who have done way more good than bad. I just don't view them to be the great quarterbacks that many fans and media have made them out to be.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Cus Burr holds onto the ball on 3rd downs. He says that it’s basically the same as an incomplete pass. Doesn’t care. They were going to punt anyway.
