Imagine the people who had Kbin accounts before the whole reddit debacle. They will be the true OGs of Kbin.

They built this place and now we just use the ~~gate~~ federated system for ourselves.

We can't collapse comments on kbin yet.
If we do great big long chains of "this is the way" we're going to make a real mess.
There was a tampermonkey script developed to collapse comments. Not perfect but definetly recommend.

And, next year, the first day of the Reddit blackout will be a massive cake day here in Kbin!
That whole week really.
I know people who made accounts one or two days beforehand because they correctly predicted that the wave of signups would cause issues. And I know people who waited till after Reddit made it clear that they weren't going to be changing their plan.
Anyone anywhere now if they were still there in a few years would be considered a veteran..

Left kbin for a few days till that cloudflare thing was sorted out. Glad it's all running smoothly now.
I guess now I get to feel what the pioneering Redditors felt after the digg migration, and it's exciting!
I joined kbin when cloudflare was enabled and was still having lots of fun. Imagine my excitement when it actually started federating.
Me too. It was mindblowing logging in expecting my usual cloudflare/errors experience and seeing all these people!

kbin is so new that we managed to snatch the domain kbin.dk and create Denmark's first kbin instance 😁
I'm used to that. Been a veteran of Livejournal, Tumblr, Twitter, LibraryThing... I'm just sad I didn't get my Mastodon veteran badge.
+1 on the mastodon point. i remember hearing about it all those years ago and being a little skeptical, but then when i finally checked it out last year it was SO good. love that place.

I can't even post on my own magazine without errors popping up, my thread not showing until 4 to 8 hours later, and now that there's duplicates of the thread, I try to delete them, and it just gives errors...
Haven't been able to post or delete anything in days.
you could make an issue if you'd like, although i get that that is inconvenient

Hopefully the comment box will be towards the top by the time new users become veterans! Loving the site though wasn't expecting this much activity on the threadiverse, especially on academic subs. Feels exciting to be a part of all this. Shame didn't join during the blackouts. Oh well better late than never!
Important part is to get as many bug fixes and improvements done for the next wave, the API outage on the 1st of July.
I'm keen to get through as many PRs as possible and get new tweaks and features out to improve the experience for all the new mates that are going to migrate over
