Edit: lemmy.ml is still up either because the Mali Government haven't gotten to them yet (lemmy.ml is after fmhy.ml in alphabetical order) or maybe they paid for the domain instead of getting a free domain like lemmy.fmhy.ml did.

There are different interpretations of a protest. Some people believe in boycotts. I personally believe in doing as much damage as possible, and going to reddit to promote a competing plaform will do more damage than reddit has to gain by you interacting with their website, especially if you use an adblocker.

Ignoring something long enough and it will go away, just like ignoring climate change will mean it's not a threat anymore.
