The main thing I don't currently like is how you can only left-swipe on a post (no right-swipe) and you have to swipe the exact right distance to get the action you want (short for upvote, medium for save, and long for hide). I'd like the option to be able to fully customize the swiping actions in both directions and limit how many actions can be performed (for example, just hide for left-swipe and save for right-swipe, regardless of how far you swipe).

As someone who's looking into different apps currently, how does liftoff compare to Jerboa and Connect?

I believe they're on their quarterly month-long hiatus.

Yeah, I'm really hoping Lemmy gets a manual hide/unhide feature similar to Reddit at some point.

Same. It'd be nice to have early access to new patches, but at the same time I'm not sure I'm up for putting in the time and effort to make detailed bug reports on an even buggier version of the game.

Felt like this video is even more relevant now than it was 8 years ago.

Coolers pretty much never make a difference anymore as far as I'm aware. They used to at least have different distortion shutdown resistances, but they aren't affect by distortion damage anymore.

As for power plants, the only time upgrading makes a difference is if you're going for a stealth build or if your ships loadout manages to exceed the power output. An easy way to check this is to look at your loudout's power requirements on erkul.games

I read elsewhere that it's not completely bidirectional when it comes to posts on a third party instance. For example, if lemmy.world and beehaw.org users both post to a thread on another instance that they are both still federated with, lemmy.world users will see the beehaw.org users' posts, but not the other way around.

I haven't confirmed if this is true yet though, so maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

This is where the Lemmy interface could use some work. It should definitely notify users when they are about to post to an instance that is defederated with them and let them know that no other instances will see the post.

Is it possible to subscribe to a Mastodon instance from Lemmy? Normally you would use !<community>@<instance>, but Mastodon doesn't seem to have "communities" from what I can tell.

Yes, I've definitely noticed the stuttering.

I also whish the scroll speed maintained "velocity" for much longer. I often do quick flicks to scroll quickly, but unlike a lot of the other apps I use, Jerboa very quickly stops scrolling once your finger is off the screen.

This is my number one requested feature. The ability to manually hide/unhide and view hidden posts.
