Agree with these 2 suggestion.
I'm interested with this question too. I'm not a heavy user of vscode mostly to view and make small changes.
In my case I use vscode server to view them on the fly on mobile phone. Ui is weird but it is what it is.
I'm sure there are tons of way to do this.
You could spin up paperless-ngx. Or use pdf24 creator. Beware paperless consume will delete the file.

I used digital ocean and it's really good. Linode too. Same price. 5$ For cheaper option, I don't know any.. Didn't dig deep enough.
I used NC with postgresql, apps works fine and pretty smooth in everything. Compared to mysql it definitely feel faster.
But now I have no use for NC, I installed File Browser for file exploring. Super simple web file browser.
