Alot of people are justifying Bill the head coach. The issue is that he’s also the GM. Bill Belichick is a great head coach, arguably greatest of all time. However it was accomplished often in spite of Bill Belichick the GM. At times the patriots roster was very devoid of talent. And Brady was able to engineer successful, sometimes historic, offenses with a skeleton crew. This allowed Bill to go full steam ahead on building and focusing on his defense.
If we ask Bill Belichick to build and coach a team on both sides of the ball, I’m not sure he’d be able to do that. Thus far we have never seen it. Brady always covered the other side with above average to stellar offensive seasons.
