It was the 50s, appliances took 15 years to break instead of 15 months

Do you really think that’s sustainable

At $15 a month? Yeah totally. The vast majority of that 2.7 billion probably cost a few cents at most to offer service to. Very few people actually upload anything and streaming video is way cheaper than the various streaming services would have you believe. It's expensive to get off the ground, sure, but it scales well.

Tens of millions of people can and do pay. This isn't about covering costs, this is about making line go up faster than last year, every year, no matter what.

Taiwan is a ridiculously valuable tech asset. If China can seize control of TSMC, it'd be in an incredible position to make tons of money and potentially spy on the rest of the world. If the factories wind up inoperable for whatever reason... well, most of the chips they produce aren't being sent to China anyway, so while it wouldn't be good for anyone, it'd be much worse for the rest of the world. And with TSMC making efforts to offshore its talent and production anyway (even if it has been with very limited success so far), China wants to make a move sooner rather than later.

Also, "democracy" on a platform where anyone can have as many accounts across as many instances as they want is doomed. If anything you'd just be offering those power-tripping, time-flush aholes an extra veneer of legitimacy.

I don't believe for a second that 90% of top posts aren't already being manipulated to some degree, even if just by an individual with a bunch of extra accounts. It's just too easy to do for it not to be the case.

At least this idiot had the excuse of historical linguistics being so underdeveloped; it's understandable he'd think language was immutable... but he's still a total idiot who apparently thought God spoke English in the Bible instead of Latin and Hebrew.
