Am I still missing something? This is posted on the instance of .world, wtf are we talking about .ml and politics for? If your instance filters your comments on other instances than that's concerning and something I didn't know.

edit: removed the sarcasm in the hopes someone actually responds to what the problem is.

I strangely find enjoyment out of 100% something and I'm not currently the main player (mostly help my partner out in the difficult spots, collect items for upgrades and restock equipment). If it was just me I probably would've lost interest a while ago.

You're absolutely right about the assets. The variety was baffling, we wondered if they were able to import a large library or if considerable time was taken modeling all of it. Would explain a lot for the development, and our hopes is that everything can just be carried over to the next installment so other areas of the game can be concentrated on.

I've basically only ran into 90% left wing, sporadic sprinklings of conservative, tankie, liberal, other. "A lot of them" is pulling extra weight here.

I really need someone to explain all the random marxist leninists bogey-man bigotry that happens on this site at some point. Like this is a completely weird-o comment, about a political ideology that's effecting a word filter for possible rascism? and on .world people still label it marxist?!

I'm aware there is deep historical connotations which I haven't spent years researching so I try not to defend or participate but it feels like since people push back against "instance hating", we've gotta pour on any political hatred we could possibly see in the shadows. I'm just gonna assume this is another bad faith comment striking up fear and hatred till I learn otherwise.

Fascism? What am I doing about fascism? The same shit I've been doing about racism, discrimination, misogyny, corruption, poverty, and class divide for the past several decades. It's called organize and educate locally. I don't go to an online social media platform and declare people should arm themselves inside of federal buildings. Even the Black Panthers weren't stupid enough to declare such actions, you guys are just bad actors.

This reminds me of a semi-friend I knew in highschool, dude really thought he was a cool guy and everyone was always up his ass even though he was a huge jerk all of the time (like a wannabe Tosh.O kinda style). For some reason I let him borrow my WC2 Battle chest and after a few months I asked for it back and got only one disc that was so thoroughly scratched it never even registered.

Started hanging out with him like a decade later when he moved next to my bestfriend, got to tell him I thought he was a piece of shit in school because of how he treated my stuff but doubt he actually cared or really remembered.

Interestingly, had a meth head who was visiting my roommate for some drugs (had taken shit from our place in the past) who borrowed one of my vhs sets while I was at work (was thoroughly pissed thinking it was gone forever), he brought it back the next day and had even wiped down and fixed the broken flap on the box. I try not to judge people borrowing stuff because of that and only let people borrow items I'm ok with losing and wouldn't sour a relationship over.

I do still generally respect and like Jon Stewart, but even I found his piece this week on the Daily Show to be some real weak ass shit.

I'm glad you brought this up because I've noticed the tone change in all the media as well. I don't blame them and understand. They spent months or years screaming and calling out Trump after spending years during his first term pointing out everything wrong.

Everyone's burnt out, you can hear it in the jokes and the incredulous chuckles that come out from segments now. They all tried their best but it didn't change the outcome, that has to make you take a step back. I honestly would probably do the same, you can't keep bombarding people with multiple items a day and expect them not to tune it out eventually. They know it's time to switch to a better long-term strategy than what they've been trying to do calling out all the bullshit with intensity.

Is your political stance based off of policy or the individuals that make up the constituents of politicians that claim to be left? I don't understand how some rhetoric from "lefists" have changed your views on policy. Might want to step off of political discourse online if you're being swayed by "personalities", it's exactly the kind of discourse bad-actors are trying to implement.

You want our current judiciary system to have the power to nullify the presidents power? How is that a proper checks and balances approach?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

These cosplaying-few day old accounts need to get a life. Love how much you've distorted the reality of the situation thinking the 2A crowd is the same ones declaring fascists are in charge now. Please tell us more how an individual should put themselves into harms-way while you type behind your brave keyboard.

The lady refused to leave her post till forcefully removed, same action as a sit-in which was effective as a peaceful demonstration of a protest during the civil rights era. The fact that you're telling people to arm up in a government building makes me think you're just another Jan 6'er or watch way too much entertainment thinking it's facts.

I’m pretty sure the door guards don’t even need dogs to smell that coming.

If the security was trained to smell out alcohol, Hegseth wouldn't have made it into the building.

That's weird, I see it's been edited but there's no "been edited" icon next to it.

Disclaimer: I don't think I'm the target audience for this game

Picked this game up (on sale) for my partner who is a low-key potter head. Been playing for the past couple of weeks together and it's been....interesting (still fun though).

First Impression: 1. The player controls and game mechanics make this game near unplayable. From the start to about midgame, the way a character moves or how you navigate menus/controls just drives you absolutely nuts. 2. The actual "Hogwarts" classes fucking suck, there's no comparison on how badly they failed at these. 3. The game is mercilessly plagued by bugs (some annoying, others game breaking).

This was all before actually looking into the game online. I heard when it was originally being developed, but kinda lost sight of it once it actually came out. I couldn't believe when I saw it was "Game of the Year" for so many outlets and awards. I will admit the depth of the spell system and work that went into it is pretty neat. If that was their main goal then they squashed it.

After spending so much time on it and seeing it through a fan's eyes and reading about it, I'm just confused on if this is a great game or something that fell short (and hopefully then improved upon for the sequel). Puzzles: I have a few that haven't been solved yet, sometimes I think a puzzle is extremely deep then I find something that gives you the answer with no thought (or the voice overs tell you what to do before you have a chance to look at it). I'm trying not to spoil any Easter eggs or hard puzzles but part of me is worried I'm looking at this deeper than I'm supposed to be and all of this just actually sucks. I did COD Zombie EE's and that shit gets deep, I'm holding out hope and continuing to try and do more on my own.

A huge caveat: I purchased this through the switch store, and it should have absolutely not had a switch release! Load times are extremely painful, graphics are completely shit, and I suspect all the bugs and crashes I've gotten are from trying to play it on a switch. PC play and mods probably make this a completely different game.

Everything else on it is pretty standard and/or substandard. Shitty "Open-world!!" that's a failed perspective (enemies basically in the backyards of the town, way too clustered), they litter the map with repeats or useless shit (who else tried the skipping stones or various "Interactive Items" for hours till giving up on all of them?). Gear and equipment is shit and the upgrade/trait system is pretty "primary school level" thought process. Capacity for everything is abysmal especially for a "magic" world and improving the limited capacity is pretty "fetch quest" level of enjoyment.

Context: Just basically in the late game now trying to 100% everything before doing the last two main quests since the interest in completing it after might not be there.

TL;DR, semi-decent buy on sale especially if you're into the potter lore. Subpar rpg/adventure game: If you're casual, wait for a sequel where it will probably have all the systems improved.

I always forget we are creatures of habit till that moment hits. I have a relative who is a woodworker, but the reality is they just love collecting wood because they worked at a sawmill as a teenager and talking about wood was all his peers did. I also have a friend who wears the same cologne since childhood because a crush once complimented them on it.

I suppose always being the "good friend" (in their parents eyes) made me more sociable, so now I avoid "events" because I just feel like it's a game and I don't want my interactions with other people to feel that way (love small gatherings with a purpose though, the Amish got it right with the barn raising).

What are some that you've experienced personally or through someone close to you?

It just baffles my mind of how some of these places are ran by the mod teams. If it wasn't for the masses of people that still flock to them I would've given up a long time ago (now only check like once every two weeks), but by the evidence they (the users) just aren't getting the help they need.

Like 10 mods, and they don't auto-block "new" people from posting (the post had 103 comments when it was locked). Easy to tell this wasn't spam and it was a legitimate person looking for advice.

They suggest logging into your "main" account. As if people want to post identifying pictures of their house under an account which might have lots of references for identification. I just wish they knew how much easier it would be to make a lemmy account instead of jumping through Reddit's hoops, could have a very robust community of tradesmen on here that would attract more people looking for advice.

I've been back and forth with this just because of my habit to use "oh man", or "oh dude" in the past. I've done pretty well with changing the terminology just to keep to the discussion at hand and being respectful for anyone I'm talking to (just feels like basic public respect, like back in the day they would say "Dear Reader," not really a PC problem to me).

So anyways, I found myself typing "oh boy" the other day and I paused to wonder about it. I don't think I've ever seen it brought up in discussions like man or dude. I never even thought of that phrase as it signifying the recipient is a "boy". The more I think on it I don't even know what the actual meaning is besides the way in which it is used (like, "shit" or "you wouldn't believe").

tldr: Is "oh boy" an acceptable gender-neutral response loop hole so I can be lazier when typing or has this been discussed a lot and I've just missed out on it?

I would love to hear the perspectives of everyone and encourage you to voice your opinion (just message if you don't want other's chiming in if you prefer)

I think this one might've broken my brain in a good way. It's about a guy attempting to hitchhike through china from the west border to Beijing in the east. I don't get the clickbait title but I guess it worked. Idk, something about this one finally made reality click from a distant belief to factual (we are all just living mundane lives, there are no enemies but the ones society creates).

You see movies about hitchhiking across foreign countries, other popular youtubers, see media coverage of a crew trying to "get into an area". The always make it dramatic and the situations between people more intense, instead of what it really is, just plain fucking awkward for someone going through their regular day with a stranger and a camera in their face.

This video was just so fucking mundane it was surreal. I guess I've been in a lot of his situations that feel magical, but really is just so simple and pure to our existence. Like walking along a highway and seeing a site you get to explore unlike all the people who just drive by it without ever visiting (though I worry that one site might've been sacred, hopefully there wasn't any signs he dismissed). Random couples that give an awkward ride to a stranger that doesn't speak their language. Asking for advice or help and just kinda following along awkwardly as they try to explain how they're helping you (I sympathize with anyone who feels uncomfortable asking for help because I was raised with the insane concept that you don't need help, in a society developed to work together -_-).

I think the people he encounters while they're working is what drew me in the most. Here's this crazy foreigner guy who can't speak but a few words in the middle of the street smiling and waving down people excitedly. This would freak out most people, and you can kinda tell they are a little bit. But, the workers are just going about their day and seem to really enjoy the change in monotony. They embrace him and his journey in their own ways, enjoying and providing what little support they can.

tldr; stumbled onto it before bed, kept me up and interested. Will be sharing with family and friends so thought I would post up here. Man hitchhikes across China and has an interesting (good) time.

I struggle with this for my personal computer. The TV-computer combo shuts off the monitor (triggers the tv to shut off when there is no input) after an hour. An hour after that it's suspended, works well.

My personal computer though, sometimes I shut off the monitor, most of the time I let it run for the day completely powered. I have yet to set any type of shutdown or standby because typically I use it more than I do my tv (work, gaming, videos, etc on the comp). I know there's some power conservation I need to consider for motivation, I have no security concern atm with my standard main account and everything private is layered so inaccessible.

tl;dr

what's everyone else's setup like for when they walk away from the computer?

Giving my perspective so far with the new show that I doubt most people are giving a watch (I was forced to try it lol). It's only 2 episodes in, the first episode I wasn't that impressed with. It seemed to be wrapping up other storylines and trying to branch into it's new, own thing. It was a confusing episode trying to get a grasp of what they were doing. But, with the previous enjoyment of wandavision (at least the first few episodes of it), I decided to push through.

Then comes Episode 2, just completely blew me away. Not like it's a masterpiece but definitely feels like Marvel is attempting to let them do their own thing atm and is one of the best "Witch" related media since the Hocus Pocus original (made me realize that genre just completely fell off since the 90's with decently made stories that wasn't an action "van-helsing/hugh jackman" kinda thing. I'm really looking forward to where they might be taking this.

Spoiler for talking about some characters that show up but no plot points exposedWith Episode 1 I felt like Aubrey Plaza was shoehorned in because of her status, she did nothing for the plot besides something that could've been fleshed out with the Teen character better. The Teen character itself I'm not too thrilled with only because of my confusion on the hierarchy of everything. He has good scenes, but his role seems to fluctuate for plot needs, just needs more fleshed out with him to be realistic but obviously this was a choice that was made.

I really feel like I need to watch Wandavision again because the Agatha in this show seems completely different, I'm not sure if it's my perception from a show I watched over 3 years ago or if there's some Marvel rewriting shenanigans going on here. I definitely am interested in looking into the comic origin and storylines now though from this show.

I wanted to highlight the song in episode 2 as well, utterly beautiful.

Agatha All Along Coven Sings The Ballad of the Witches' Road Episode 2

(I'm trying to think of a better Marvel song, but now I can't even think of any real singing besides this one)

Anyways, the 3rd episode drops in like 8 hours. Haven't followed a show while it's releasing in a while, and typically I don't, but I'm gonna try this one out. If it turns out great, awesome. If it's a horrible rest of the season, at least I can say I thoroughly enjoyed the hype of it while waiting for the next one.

tl;dr Episode 1, a little rough going down and finding it's footing. Episode 2, really has me excited for a real witch show about witches (doesn't feel like Marvel). Episode 3 drops tonight.

Quite good and wanted to share the clip. The song is awesome but the scenes make it better and I love Debra Rupp (Kitty from that 70's show) so glad to see her in a new roll.

I thought about this in response to a comment someone made and postured a position in which the RNC and DNC are really just two monopoly companies at this point (link). I know there's protection for political parties, but is that what these really are now with how they're structured (kinda like they're ticketmaster/livenation for politicians at this point)? I couldn't find an easy answer and trying to dive deeper keeps pulling up irrelevant articles.

Been slowly running into more results from DDG that seem to have some "personal parameter" or difference in search results. I had a search saved from some months ago, went to check it for some references and got new hits involving local organizations that had nothing to do with the search. Opening up a private browser I see that the searches aren't 100% matching up either.

I see this as only getting worse, I want to be able to enter a search and it searches for my query. Not based on my personality or whatever info is being collected. Does anyone know a search engine that's reliable and focuses on giving the same results and doesn't try this "personalized" crap?
