Just bought myself a Sega Dreamcast after going through some similar thinking.

I vaguely recall someone saying that a porn group were going to make a porn based on the image due to its popularity?

From the original actual news article:

Christie explained that he sees the term “woke” as referring to a “new age of thinking that's quite left and quite Green” but isn't factual. “It's based on the surface on good principles — let's protect our native bush. But then when you actually are educated and you look into a little bit further, it's like, no, that actually doesn't make sense,” he added.

Somehow in these people's thinking they're the educated ones. They know that state parks are good but national parks are bad. Smashing up the bush with your diesel soaked 4WD protects the environment. Logging native forests is good for the environment.

I see echoes of the old 'carbon is actually good for the environment' in these weirdos.

The Matthew McConaughey Salesforce AI ads make me feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

I cannot fathom in what world AI helps solve an issue where Matthew McConaughey is sitting in the rain eating a hot dog. It's infuriating.

It doesn't make sense from any angle, especially considering Salesforce is a enterprise software company who deals almost exclusively with massive B2B companies.

Average monthly share of search is a leading indicator of total market share.

This was exactly the same approach the Australian government took with its 'pacific solution'. Offshore detention into remote, hard to access locales, classify all reporting of 'illegal immigration' under national security laws. Makes getting news in and out nearly impossible.

Perhaps not strictly enshitification of a service, but feels like a precursor to the enshitification of the idea of an open internet.

The faster they move the more they can get done before their opponents can mobilise resistance.

I would say that so far, there appears to be much less public resistance to Republican policies than in previous years. The Democrats appear to be at sea. The left's working class base is split. Public institutions are too busy protecting their turf, making gestures at cooperating with the new world order rather than trying to resist.

It feels like last time there was an assumption that ~~Trump and MAGA politics~~ a criminal dictator and fascist politics were a blip or aberration from the norm, now there's an acceptance that they're institutionalised.

This is what a kleptocratic oligarchy looks like folks. Suck up to the big man and he'll let you fleece the joint.

We do have that here. All our food comes from one of only three grocery brands. Two of which make up 90% of the market. There was a government commission into the cost of groceries but nothing has really been happened other than one CEO quitting under public pressure. But then again eggs are only $AUD 5.19/dozen so maybe it worked more than we realised.

Nvidia, the company that makes graphics cards you can't afford anymore and keeps vying for status as the world's most valuable company, is taking a page from Xbox's book and announcing a confusing change to its GeForce Now cloud gaming service that includes a monthly cap on the hours you can play games. As many people are saying in the comments to the announcement, maybe it's time to build a PC.

I will be honest that after writing the lede above I had to look up exactly what GeForce Now is, and reaffirm that it is not one of the many Nvidia things my graphics card installed on my computer. Like Stadia (RIP) and Microsoft's xCloud, GeForce Now can let you stream games your hardware might not be able to support. It has a bunch of tiers, some of which now have new names and new limits.
