Reupload!

Seems I can finally upload GIFs directly without hassle! The entire NSFW Lemmy community needs to start doing this if we want to see it grow, and of course, have great content ๐Ÿ˜‹

The app I use is called Boost, and it's currently in public testing, but should be available soon. If you're using another mobile app to view this, please let me know if:

  1. You saw a preview of the GIF before opening the post, even if it was just a thumbnail.
  2. The GIF loaded and was playable within the app
  3. The experience overall was good

Thanks, and I plan on pushing more content to revitalize our NSFW hub away from Reddit! โค๏ธ

In-line GIF Viewing (lemmy.world)

Lemmy noob here, have only had an account for a few days and been using Connect for even less. I've noticed that on desktop, GIFs that are linked in a post (Whether in the body or the URL section) can be watched without opening a new tab or leaving the page. So far, this does not seem to be the case on mobile, no matter the application (I've used Jerboa, Connect, and one other I already forget). Is this a matter of instance implementation, or application/site? And do sites need to be "whitelisted", or can any URL that leads to a GIF work?

This is a huge feature for me, and one of the biggest reasons I'm waiting on Boost for Lemmy

With that said, Connect is by far my favorite mobile app for Lemmy.

It's pretty cool, just not available in any mobile app yet (that I've seen)

It's definitely a dream

Thanks. As soon as there's no issue with attaching GIFs directly (uploading), that'll be the preferred method I think. At least for mobile compatibility.

Yeah, seems like the link implementation on most/all mobile apps, and some web interfaces, is still a WIP. lemmy.world shows it in-line which is nice. Boost for Lemmy should be available for Android in the coming weeks. I've tried uploading GIFs directly and it never seems to work.

Looking for some feedback with this one! New to the Lemmy scene, so there may be some bugs :P On desktop, the GIF can be played in-line just fine. When previewing the post on my phone, I can't even open the link (this also may be down to the app I use, which is Jerboa). Let me know what your guys' experience is with this post please โค๏ธ
