3D IMAX was way later to using circular polarizers (if they ever switched). Were you only watching 3D in IMAX?

Name the identity politics that any "left" political party has actually engaged in.

Meanwhile, the right has been slinging IDPol for decades now, and people lap it up. White Christian Nationalism is all IDPol. The rural/urban conflict is all IDPol. Men's Rights is IDPol.

"Let's treat people who are not white Christian men as if they're people" is a) not a core campaign plank for any party, and b) not IDPol.

What the fuck.

He's a Liberal. It's what the Liberals have done since at least the late 80s. It's their whole thing.

Cool ideology, bro!

Now do fire departments!

This.

The constant refrains of "Why won't this public content sharing network bend over backwards to keep the things I share private?" shows a persistent misunderstanding of what's going on here.

And also of how much privacy they actually have while using centralized social media. But that's a whole other kettle of fish.

No. But it is a social media site, and people have been conflating the two for twenty years now.

But people are not curling up in anything. They're having third parties, that have their own political interests, feed them an image of reality.

This is wildly different from self-organized communities built around existing common interests or beliefs.

You've set the bar way too low. You can't buy peanut butter toast in grocery stores, either.

I would have said the same thing about PB&Js, too, except society is so depraved now that that's no longer true.

Yes! That's how they can unionize now.

Instagram is, uh, Meta? It was gobbled up just as it was taking off.

Tiktok couldn't be gobbled, and is being beat down by legislators until they sell to US tech firms.

The long standing (conspiracy?) theory is that Threads is not interested in federation in the broader sense, and is just trying to do the bare minimum to meet EU interoperability standards. I doubt they have any interest in actually engaging with anything other than the biggest players on the network, and even there it was quite touch and go with respect to whether it looked like they were going to federate with much beyond masto.soc.
