I'm not disputing any of this.

However, peacetime-beaurocracy can get entire-countries exterminated, when it isn't peacetime anymore.

There is a simple principle underlying the choice-of-consensus vs choice-of-hierarchy problem, for ANY organization, including a country:

How much time do you have to decide?

Infinity? then consensus is optimal.

Zero? then you'd better be a ninja/yogi.

The spectrum of optimal-structure-for-decisions obviously has lots of wiggle-room, in peacetime.

But if you take 1h to adapt to your plane's sole-pilot being out by heart-attack,

but it only took you 10-minutes to fatally-crash, then you're GONE.

Survival forces changing-of-rules from social-and-commercial context.

It is entirely possible that the nihilist "mass shooting", except at whole-planet scale ( butchering all systems, smashing all lives, living it up on narcissism, drugs, ego, & popping oneself with a painless bullet when accountability threatens one ) final design of those who've gained enough world-rule to "drive" the cart through money's systems..

There's a "philosopher" who the far-right techbro-oligarchs rely on, whose blog is grey-something-or-other..

I tried using wget & there's a bug or something in the site, so it keeps inserting links-to-other-sites into uri's, so you get bullshit like

The site apparently works for the people who browse it, but wget isn't succeeding in just cloning the thing.

I want the items that the usable-site is made-of, not endless-failed-requests following recursive errors, forever..

Apparently one has to be ultra-competent to be able to configure all the disincludes & things in the command-line-switches, to get any particular site dealt-with by wget.

Sure, on static-sites it's magic, but on too many sites with dynamically-constructed portions of themselves, it's a damn headache, at times..

Oh, 1 other point, discovered in trying to post this as a single-post, & being blocked by the PieFed coding..

On the instance I want to run, I'm going to be doing really long articles, so having a character-limit of 4000 or something won't work.

Please code PieFed so that the instance-admin is offered your default, but is allowed to set a max-character-limit for posts of whatever they want, like 16k, or 32k, or 64k+ chars, if required, for that instance,

instead of having to find the places in the source-code to have to change, & hope they caught all the locations, without understanding the code ( I'm not a programmer .. yet .. someday .. : )

1 "random" bug in PieFed is the use of too-similar colors for vote-arrows & voted-on-arrow: green & blue, in dark mode, simply are not different-enough to reliably see the difference, for me, & I'm not colorblind ( font-size has to do with it, too, obviously: too-few-pixels to see significant difference .. )

For the truly-color-blind, though, there needs to be striking difference-in-brightness between the 2, or an underline under the voted-one, or something..
