very much so; the nuke club doesn't want new members and ESPECIALLY ones not aligned with them.

the amount of indoctrination and very effective propaganda that keeps this history repeating itself is so staggering sometimes and it makes me wonder what it will take for things to change.

sometimes, it makes me want to check out like the democratic voters checkout in the last election because of the genocide.

i use openai professionally including the license (my employers pay for it) and not even i can tell which models/trim do which; it's confusing af sometimes.

now that deepseek is a thing, i'm going to push my employer to adopt it and i'm going to quite the one that gives the biggest resistance to it and tell them so during my exit interview in writing.

that one gives off old man vibes; it's needs be younger and more chad like xi's:

maybe lenin would work better?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 16 minutes ago

yeah, that's why i thing it's going to work; if he's not on our screens, he disappears from our collective consciousness.

like others have said; the logs are your friends here; but you can also help narrow it down. the next time it happens, see if you can confirm how your system has frozen by doing these things:

if it's well and truly frozen, nothing will happen when you tap the caps lock key; as in your key led won't light up or you don't get any response at all.

if it does light up; then it might be your xwindows environment and you might be able to switch to a virtual terminal. most distributions have setup alt+ctrl+f1 through f7 to let you switch to one of them and some distros have setup alt+ctrl+backspace to restart your xwindows. if you're in this situation, then it's a safe bet that an application is causing your problem and you can narrow your focus on the logs there.

it's a never ending cat-and-mouse game

luigi is probably the closest this country has ever come unifying americans against their ruling classes and that's why they'll spare no expense and turn every single rock that they can and i suspect that it'll eventually work.

once it does; i think that it will be the last chance for us to change course because it means that we're going let the fascist orange in office take whatever he wants no matter how much those of us to pay attention try to warn the rest.

it seemed like the innocent(ish) holy wars of the past like emacs vs vi; but it's taken on a whole new destructive trajectory of its own and the old guard would rather see Linux ossify into irrelevancy rather than letting the next generation take over.

it reminds me of an old quote from a general to the effect of: if 5 americans survive a nuclear war and 4 russian survive; then we've won and it was worth it.

either that or it's like the technological equivalent of the the democratic leadership w disaffected democratic voters leading to defeat in this last election or an elderly driver whose grown children are trying to take away their keys before things get worse; all are refusing to acknowledge the writing on the wall because they think they still got it, but they don't.

nobody wants to piss off trump; not even the democrats in charge; and that's probably the clearest sign that the united states has its first dictator.

there woudn't be so many stray cats if people did and some perverse part of me is glad since that's how i got mine.

it seems like it was a team of observers and probably there to measure the success of their rockets; like the americans are in ukraine to train them on how to use american weaponry.

FASCINATING AF perspective suggesting that luigi is a member of the class that benefits from our system, but rejected it out of ignorance because he (and most younger people like him of that class) identify with the systematically violated poor due to luigi (and others like him) mostly not consuming the mainstream, legacy media that re-enforces the system.

due to this, the real danger for the ruling class is not he 99%; but rather their younger generations who are siding with the violated poor out of ignorance that they will inherit the reigns of this system because the ruling class has focused so much on sending the message that the system is invincible to the poor, that they unwittingly have given their own younger generation the same message thanks to the internet & social media.

each time the ruling class responds with zealously overwhelming force to protect the system and shore up that sense of invincibility; it becomes more self-defeating since it prods their younger generations to rail against the system even further until luigi; as a member of that predatory ruling class; used his class' privileged perspective to take the kind direct action that's not available to the poor.

if true, i think this explains why all of the super powers have been working so hard to curtail internet access and social media presences that don't tow the official narratives like tiktok and maybe explains why so many of the ruling classes' young, like hasan piker, have such strongly leftists views despite their immensely wealthy background.

I was certified on a couple of ubiquity products a few years ago and i've collected so many certifications over the last 20ish years that i can't remember which ones they were.

does ubiquity have a way of letting you look it up?

Rep. Rashida Tlaib: “But Palestinians are not just numbers. Behind these numbers are real people — mothers, fathers, sons, daughters — who have had their lives stolen from them and their families torn apart. And we should not be trying to hide it. These are innocent children and babies who have been bombed in their tents, burned alive, dismembered and deliberately starved to death. Where is our shared humanity in this chamber? There is so much anti-Palestinian racism in this chamber that my colleagues don’t even want to acknowledge that Palestinians exist at all, not when they’re alive and now not even when they’re dead. It’s absolutely disgusting. This is genocide denial.”

hr-6090 will make criticizing isreal illegal including the protests. it’s already passed the the house and biden has signaled his support for it. i wonder why this isn’t on lemmy already since it’s been a thing for a month so far.
