FWIW, I don't block any instances or sublemmys, cross-instance community discovery has always been half-broken in Lemmy and unfortunately nothing I can do about it except force a discovery by searching the instance locally by searching for it.

People really need to stop dogpiling on the most popular instances and instead spread themselves out.
I do that on my own instance too :D, private and small instances are really the way to go!
Yes, but the common user would just register on the most popular instance. It will take a lot of effort to change that mindset.
Exactly the reason why Lemmy at scale will never work, since most people won't run their own instance.
