Definitely not new. However, in many practical applications you can sorta kinda ignore it (but definitely not all!).
If I can offer some advice, just go on a Friday or Saturday. Way lower prices, it gives you a pretty good feel for the atmosphere, and there will probably be support series doing something as well. Watching races live is not very good anyway, it is not so easy to tell what is going on like on TV.

The WHO discourages this because people will start associating the name with the disease. Which sucks if you happen to have this name. See Tourette's, or Chagas disease.
