To me, it's absolutely crazy that AC units are even still marketed. An air conditioner is just a heat pump that only work in one direction (cooling). All that is needed to allow it to work for both heating and cooling is one extra valve. If you're going to install a heat pump (in the form of an air conditioner) and a furnace anyway, you might as well let the heat pump provide heating as well. That way, your furnace is only required on the coldest nights. For most of the year, the heat pump is sufficient.

I often re-use the biodegradable bags for garbage, and half the time they're disintegrating before the bag's even full.

Drought and wildfire.

On top of it being really gnarly wood to work with, they also don't transplant very well. Because of both of these factors, it will likely never be commercially harvested, just BC's weird wild tree. I love the way parts of it can die off, and new wood just grows around it like putty.

It seems like it's already here, at least informally. It's pretty common for employers to screen job applicants by social media posts. Without a good job, you're basically a second-class citizen.

That's interesting. I remember back after the '08 collapse in the States, we were pating ourselves on the back for how we were better off, while they were undergoing a massive correction. Meanwhile...

I made this to illustrate to a friend that housing prices have been running away from wages for at least the last 20 years. I included the price of avocados too, cause you know, toast and other frivolous spending is really to blame. (/s)

As someone approaching 40, I feel like I've watched retirement slip from my grasp over the last 5 years. At this point, I fully expect to be working until I die.

I can't find it now, but I saw a clip of the CEO being asked about the cobbled together nature of it. He laughed it off saying only the hull was important, and anything else could fail and it would still be safe.

I wonder what he's thinking now...

Yeah, and seemingly only looking as far ahead as the next election, not what is best for society in the next 20 years.

The gender thing is just the latest in a long tradition of overly-aggressive sports parents. Parents have been freaking out at hockey games and dance recitals for as long as I can remember.

It's really just the same thing, but now with 50% more bigotry.

Like, maybe just calm down and let kids have fun?

My MP seconded the motion. It's great to see bipartisan support for this. Even amongst Conservative voters, who had the least support, it's still over 2/3 in favour.
