I heard about kleptomania but I don’t have the desire to steal as much as I did when I was a kid.

I don’t usually ever talk about things like this, especially to strangers and I will probably delete it eventually but….

I’m 21. And from like age 8-20 I had a problem with stealing. And it was not because I necessarily needed to but I would usually just take candy from stores. Only time I took something I actually needed were some batteries and a phone charger but nothing beyond just that. I also took money from my classmates lockers and I even once almost took someone’s iPod, but I was so afraid that I ended up giving it back the next day. But what’s even worse is the fact that I have taken some of my brother’s birthday/Christmas money that he keeps in a stash. Rough estimate at least $250. Could be less. And yes I do feel horrible about it all. And I wish I could go back in time and have never done it to begin with. Fast forward to now I have successfully fought off the urge to shoplift because I know how bad it can be for your career if you get caught. I’m currently a full time college student so I don’t work. My dad gives me a certain amount of spending money every week to kind of help me. And I have been putting a bit of it back in my brother’s stash as restitution. And no I haven’t told my brother because we do have a good relationship and he’s one of the closest people to me. I appreciate any advice. Feel free to call me a pos as well.

Edited Update: thanks for the advice and support. So basically after going back and forth about it I decided to tell my mom pretty much what I told this thread. I didn’t go too deep into detail in terms of listing every single thing I took but I told her enough to know what’s going on. Surprisingly, she didn’t get angry about it. Disappointed, yes. But I know she was glad I told her. She reminded me in her humorous fashion that she “reserves the right to get mad.” So this weekend we plan on going to the bank to get money out of my savings and give it to my brother. Right now, he’s at school in a difference city and won’t be back until Spring break. That’s when I plan on telling him and giving him the money and will offer to buy him lunch afterwards. I do feel better now that my mom knows but the mission isn’t accomplished until my brother knows. Like I said, him and I are fairly close and we rarely fight over anything besides petty stupid stuff, so I don’t know how he will react. Prayers and good luck would be appreciated as well as any additional advice.

It’s all good

Maybe perhaps: “yes”, followed by someone’s own personal experience. Kinda like the user whose comment you got removed for no reason. Just because YOU don’t see it beyond “yes or no” doesn’t mean other people don’t.

It’s just a question, if you care so much about “rules” then simply ignore and don’t respond to the it. I already looked it up but I just wanted to know the perspective of people who can actually relate to my situation. But thanks for the link

I have ADHD, and take adderall XR for it. However, for the past almost month, I have been without it because my pharmacy has a shortage of it. At first, I didn’t experience immediate problems except for increased appetite and maybe a few other minor issues but for the past week, i have developed anxiety and worry about things more strongly than I typically do. Is this normal? And based on your experience, does adderall “decrease” anxiety?

I have it tomorrow, and I live in the state of Florida.

Go ahead and stop guessing. I don’t owe anyone a response. I asked a question and I wanted to hear people’s answers. But you didn’t even do that so why SHOULD I reply? If I want too, I will.

I have an economics teacher that made this claim in class yesterday. I wanted to know other people’s thoughts about it.

I need advice because I’m scared lol.

As someone who’s been permanently banned from Reddit 5 times, I have never seen a more accurate statement in my life.

I would say atleast 80% of the time because there are people who are legitimately only saying things as a joke. But people (friends and family) will say the most absurd thing about you or play the worst prank on you, and say: “it was just a joke, it was just a prank.” Knowing good and well it wasn’t something to joke about. And here’s the other thing, jokes are supposed to be funny. Most people don’t get the concept of a joke. It’s not always that I don’t have a sense of humor. You just don’t have humor AT ALL.

Ofc I would forgive. Notice in my statement I said I appreciate apologies, they just aren’t my main factors for rebuilding trust. If it was me in your case I would accept the apology and leave it at that. I probably would’ve been more interested in understanding why she felt the need to act like that in her apartment than the actual apology. But I’m glad your situation worked out

Been doing this for twenty years, not one complaint

Horrible way of thinking but go off I guess

Take it from a criminal justice major who ended up going into student loan debt because I felt like I just downright “needed” to get it from a university. NOTE, I’m not saying don’t go to college, I’m saying unless you are majoring in one of the fields I named, you’d be better off enrolling at a JUCO or Community College. Now if you have a scholarship then that’s a different story. I was originally in a community college but ended up transferring because that school only offered associate degrees (my other excuse for leaving lol). College as a whole is way too fucking expensive to begin with but I feel as though it would be more worth it if you were in the majors I mentioned. I do realize that there are many graduates who have majored in other fields and feel content and that’s great.
