Unknown damaged files in backups scares me at night, is there a solution? in c/[email protected]

I have personally moved to ZFS which can self-repair based on generated checksums and parity data on the fly.

If you are not using ZFS or another filesystem that has built in bitrot protection then you will want to use par2. You can also use rar which has recovery/parity data options available.

Samba corrupted names (alien.top)

I'm uploading files to samba and ls -l is showing corrupted names. Samba continues to work. How can I fix this?

The file names should be something like 11/10/13, 10/26/26 PM.jpeg but are instead showing as this:
