Least expensive is Virtualbox or UTM.

Simplest is Parallels.

Can’t say why your other posts were downvoted because we don’t know what they are. Possibly people thought you were scare-mongering

If this happened, you’ve been doxxed.

You never provided that info to Lemmy & it’s not stored in Lemmy therefore it can’t be stolen from Lemmy.

Doesn’t mean nobody can figure out who you are based on your post history, comments or username.

Your ALL is amplifying the highest engagement posts from the largest instances, particularly lemmy.world, which is definitely US-centric due to it being the largest open registration instance during the exodus... Go ahead and switch to your instances LOCAL and see what original content is being posted on sopuli.xyz. Quite a difference. https://sopuli.xyz/?dataType=Post&listingType=Local&page=1&sort=Active

How many of your subscribed communities lie outside of lemmy.world? Very possible you've pigeonholed yourself. World almost certainly has a heavy US bias as it was the largest instance with open registration during the exodus.

Lemmy is made up of a ton of instances, many of which have quite limited US-related content. Posts from smaller instances may not rise to the top of World but they do elsewhere. Whereas World posts are going to rise across most instances, due to sheer volume. Where the posts come from is not as indicative of diversity as where the comments and votes come from.

More desirable domains available and significantly lower costs are a couple of reasons that come to mind..

Lemmy is much less US-centric than Reddit.

Saying this as a lifelong Crue fan, they’ve never been a good touring band. Even in their heyday it was, at best, a good time with a crowd of like minded people who were mostly stoned or drunk out of their minds. Vince has never been a good live vocalist, he’s just had enough good days to mange to put out a couple of live albums of cherry picked performances.

$10 of bar soap lasts longer than $50 of that gel stuff.

A CDN isn’t a great comparison to DDOS mitigations. CDN spreads the load amongst multiple locations that are distinct entities. Any one can be down and the rest functions fine. They generally exist on separate domains and are not inherently codependent.

DDOS requires an inline solution. A layer acting as a man in the middle to deflect or absorb the traffic destined to Lemmy.world, for example. That’s not something that can be readily be decentralized while there’s only one ingress to Lemmy.world.
