Yeah that’s been my experience with most of the fediverse so far. It’s not going anywhere unless someone comes up with a solution to the discoverabilty problems.

Some were lost before they found the rapist, felon and KKK/Neo Nazi idol to latch onto, some were lost after. If they are still tied to that ship, the rest of us have no obligation to them - including having any contact whatsoever. Altruism has a time and a place, but those people are probably beyond saving by the rest of us at this point.

lol nah - My dad handing me a pamphlet about how Hilary Clinton is the anti-christ was just another serving of bull shit added to decades of other bull shit. Been 9 years of peace since I cut him out. He can rot, not changing my life one bit.

It's not like this buffoon being gone will stop the rest of the out-of-their-minds and now fascist Republicans or Muskrat from continuing the work.

People like that are just using the performative righteousness as an excuse to bully people.

Don't disagree about the performative righteousness (also appreciate the new term) - but the current admin, many of its figureheads and an alarming number of its supporters sure fetishize the Third Reich. Not really something to be ignored, imo.

Thank you for the rec. I checked them out, but it's not really what I'm looking for. Ideally my watch face will let me see a lot of information related to location and weather. For example, my main Apple Watch face currently shows: a compass, date, time, current temp, the high, the low, the conditions, wind speed and elevation. That's partly why I've stuck with an Apple Watch despite the severe shortcomings

I was looking into Pebble watches right before they got bought by Fitbit, was super bummed. Since then I've tried a Garmin (hated the app) and now on my third Apple Watch... I still don't love the Apple Watch and want an alternative. Between having to charge it all the goddamn time and after 10~ years it only having 3 usable watch faces I've been craving an alt. I signed up for the Pebble list - I'm ready. Pebble for every day and going to try out a Coros for fitness.

hype isn’t based on anything tangible

So just like crypto

EDIT: The crypto bros out in full force... and right on cue proudly proclaiming they don't understand the difference between the value of blockchain technology (which so far has not had a ton of real world value outside of mostly impractical database applications, other than furthering climate change and buying drugs) vs the SPECULATIVE value of coins since coins have no real value factors to back up their SPECULATIVE value. Stocks often have real value that back up their value, like company profits or products. Stop drinking kool aid to the point of literal zero critical thinking, jfc.

Nah, perhaps bother to research something before you make yourself look like a fool and spread lies.

Not enough to matter and seemingly it never will be. It’s kind of like the whole situation with Netflix. So many online were grandstanding about how they unsubscribed and publications were speculating backlash over the price increases… well another price increase was just announced and their subscriber numbers are still increasing.

Hi all - I've never done an install of Linux before but have always hovered around the community. Now that I have a "spare" and old Macbook Pro that is no longer supported by Apple, I am interested in installing Linux on the device. Obviously I am asking a very broad question here, but are there recommendations on what OS to install on Macs? What are some good resources to find installation guides? In general, just looking for guidance as I start this process as I'm very green to the idea. Thanks all.
