Love the video, but I understand nothing of the lyrics lol

Without knowing the ages of the children, how long they were in the car or the temperature it's hard to take a side on this.

Idk, I would expect a shoplifting community take the side of the shoplifter. Folks should not get shamed and criminalized for trying to provide for their family. If the woman left the children in a dangerous situation, I hope she receives the support and education to not do it again.

Somehow the article is not available in my region. If its the same for you, this archived version might help you out

More colorful buildings, emphasizing buildings as a canvas for art from graffiti to commissioned murals

That! :D I feel like in a solar punk utopia people would love to express themselves in more ways than our current society allows. I also believe that the tag/throwup style of graffiti would be way less common in a place where every wall is a canvas.

Someone having that data is a problem in itself

I think its a weird way to test the sentiment of a community. Maybe a question would have led to more reactions but I dont think anything need to be removed (I dont speak for the community on this instance tho)

insurrection leads us no longer to let ourselves be arranged, but to arrange ourselves

This is probably what makes insurrections/uprisings so inspiring, atleast to me

I am not sure if calling for death penalties for cops is something that fits slrpnk.net or the solar punk ideals.

Instead I would like to point you to the [email protected] community which collects resources on alternatives to our current punishment based idea of justice.

Personally I also like this text about executions: Against the Logic of the Guillotine, Why the Paris Commune Burned the Guillotine—and We Should Too

This post got kinda popular and so probably lots of folks that are not subscribed will see it. Please follow the rules pointed out in the sidebar, especially:

  • do not derail discussions with your concerns about morality or ethics

You can always use the pinned post Why a(nother) shoplifting community to talk about why you think stealing is wrong.

In europe there are lots of anarchist organizations and collectives, idk if thats different in the US.

This community looks like it’s just about stealing what you want, while using the plight of the poor as an excuse to steal nail polish.

I think you are disingenuous here. You are using arguments and motivations from different people and just mix them together because they where posted in the same online space.

My opinion as the mod and the one that started the community does not represent everyone participating here.

Does anyone have a follow up story of this?

proletarian shopping

Looting; when the working class goes apeshit and steals large quantities of merchandise en masse, usually accompanied by vandalism, arson, and violence against the police.

The revolution is here! Lets smash those fucking windows and do some proletarian shopping!]

I subscribed to a few smaller communities. When I visit them in an app or via slrpnk.net they show different posts/comments. In most cases its comments that seem to be missing.

I only noticed it in smaller communities, maybe because its more noticable there. Is this intentional/normal or a bug?

Examples:

https://slrpnk.net/c/[email protected] and https://feddit.de/c/polyamory (no comments when accessed via slrpnk.net)

https://slrpnk.net/c/[email protected] and https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/c/tranarchism (only my comment when accessed via slrpnk.net, which is missing when accessed via lemmy.blahaj.zone)

[image description: looks like a book cover. Dogbert, a character from the series Dilbert, runs up a hill, which is inbfron if yellow mountains and a sunny sky. He has office supplies like pens and paperclips in his arms.

Title of the book in red font is "build a better life by stealing office supplies" with the subtitles "Dogbert's big book of business" and " illustrated by Scott Adams"]

Right now I just use the body of my image posts and write something like "alt text: meme name and used text".

On Thursday, six people entered a Tesco Extra in the Maryhill district of Glasgow, Scotland, took food and essential items from the shelves and put them in the store’s food bank donation bins.

In a video posted on Twitter on Wednesday, an activist says: “The reason we’re doing this is that supermarkets in this country have been raising their prices ahead of the rate of inflation, essentially stealing from ordinary people in order to line their packets with profits.

[...]The activist is seen ripping the security tag off a tub of baby formula. He says: “This is a basic need for every family with babies and it’s £18 in Asda, which is an immense price tag. […] Supermarkets are prioritising their profits over the safety and health of families in the community.”

Between 30 to 50 people swarmed the Nordstrom at the Westfield Topanga Mall in Woodland Hills, making off with thousands of dollars worth of luxury handbags and high-end clothing, an LAPD spokesman told NBC News.
