How can I replicate this coating on the drawstring on the Plush Fleece Double-Waisted Sweatpants?

This is my last hope... to anyone who's familiar with fabric or works in the industry, or even anyone who has any ideas - What can I use to achieve this kind of finish on my drawstrings ends??
I recently thrifted a pair of Plush Fleece Sweatpants and the ends of the pants drawstring are like coated and sealed in this matte finish!! I thought this was a genius idea and I want to replicate this on my other pants that are fraying instead of simply burning it off! Any ideas?? I was thinking paint but most clothing paint doesn't dry matte 😭
