Briar is awesome. Loving the progress!
Hyperbola OS
I recommend Trisquel. Use plasma DE for sure, it provides amazing user experience. Tell her to not expect things exactly like those of Windows or Mac and learn till she becomes comfortable. Initially she'll struggle, later she won't even think of using Windows or Mac.
Why are you creating such a scenario? Power exploits just travel from more powerful (people who have something at the moment) to the less powerful (people who want something). Power changes from moment to moment. Why would you assume that next person who walks in will get a better experience. You're just increasing frustration in people. You're the source of that.
I'm highly anti HRs.
Moving off GitHub is cool. They should do that definitely! I take immense interest in computer security and would trade such extra features easily for minimalism! People could easily learn using just those features! But yes, I get your point.
It's obviously better than GitHub. But between Gogs and Gitea, I think Gogs has more than enough features and using Gogs, you trust 1 person, whereas with Gitea, responsibility lies nowhere. Also, in such community projects, people never remove code, they just keep adding code which is a disaster!
I personally like cgit and stagit more than above 2 but Gogs lies at appropriate junction between ease of use, UX and features.
Gitea produces something similar to gogs for thrice it's size last I checked. gogs was 25MB and gitea was 76MB. Something must be done for removal of code too instead of just addition of code.
I'd love that. The issue is just that you might need to become one of the most powerful men in your country. It's harder than above solution implementation. Much harder!
In fact designing a system better than capitalism is hard too. I've dwelled much on this problem too.
A million CONNECTED small instances > a few big instances
Communication across different server doesn't mean centralized. Without communication, there would be a million servers with 5 people on each server.
Thanks @[email protected] . Yeah, it's a good idea, but what can one do if there are around 30 people who believe that PixelFed is a better platform and not even 1 takes action for something they themselves believe in! We need better incentives. Like money from ads, hot influencers, dinners with actors, 30 mins online chat opportunities with say someone like Luke Smith or so on!
We need easiest user experience and compatibility of free software with capitalism. I've written an article and a new free sofware license on this which would come out soon. Making free software compatible with capitalism.
Ideas work if people co-operate. In capitalism, people co-operate only for money. That's the whole point of utilitarianism and equating money with utility.
