So the asus router offers enough secuirty for self hosting, even with exposing things through nginx proxy manager?

I want to get into self hosting. I now have an Asus ZenWifi Pro ET12 router which i think is one of the more top of the line Asus routers. But now as i want to get into self hosting, should i switch it out for a mini PC like the topton j6412 which i have been looking at. Will this provide better security and speed. Or will it just make it slower and more unreliable?

I want to get into self hosting, i am planning to tget a topton mini pc as a firewall, but i dont know what to get for the actual server hardware. I am thinking of getting a mini pc here aswell because of low power consumption and not so much noise. These are the services i plan to run on mostly docker in proxmox:

- Home assistant
- Wazuh
- Some dashboard service
- Tor node
- Jellyfin maybe
- Nextcloud
- Photoprism
- Nginx proxy manager

And maybe some other stuff later aswell. But i am also considering running my storage on a seperate NAS machine. So what hardware would you recommend for something like this? Budget if its possible is maximum 400$ not including the firewall.

I have decided to get a mini pc of some sorts to host OPNsense to use as a router. I have done some research and i have seen that there are so many options. So i came here from help. Here are my "Criteria": World avalibe, i live in Norways so has to have international shipping. Thats why something liek topton is great because aliexpress ships cheaply to norway. Budget is around 200 dollars. Needs to be able to handle 20-30 devices on the internet, some devices are doing gaming. My ISP provides 1gb internet so needs to handle that. Needs to have a barebone option as i already have memory and storage laying around.

What are my options?

I am starting to build out my home network. My step dad does a lot of gaming and relies on fast internet. I want to switch out our router with a topton mini pc running opn sense. He wants to get a better and faster Asus gaming router. Is the speed increase on one of these "gaming routers" really that much? And is there some ways to compromise? I dont need extremely fast internet but i of course like it, but i would sacrifice some speed for security and self host features.
