The App Store version of Mlem doesn't support gifs just yet, but the beta version does.

I use Ice Cubes for Mastodon.
I'm one of the Mlem developers; I'm glad you're enjoying it :) You could also consider trying the Mlem beta if you haven't already. It's about 8 months' worth of development ahead of the App Store version. The reason why we haven't updated the App Store version in so long is because the beta version doesn't have all of the moderation tools yet (due to it being a full rewrite), and we don't want to take those tools away from moderators who use Mlem.
Thanks for the suggestion! This is a cool idea, I’ve created an issue here to keep track of it.
Lemmy doesn’t support this, so we’d have to store the required information on-device. This idea is one of several for which we’d need to do this, listed here. Ideally Lemmy would add support for these features, but we may do them ourselves if Lemmy support seems unlikely.
On Mlem you can add a link by tapping the link icon at the top of the post editor and tapping "paste" (with the link copied to clipboard, of course). We're aware that this isn't the most obvious UI, and are improving it in the next version.
They were intended to be its ears. I never considered that they could look like hands until someone pointed it out, and I must admit I quite like the idea haha. You can imagine it whichever way you like :)
Mlem dev here. We're still working on Mlem - we're just doing all of the work on the dev
branch at the moment, because we're rewriting major parts of the app. GitHub may be showing the main
branch by default, which we only update when there's a critical bug that needs fixing.
This particular issue is fixed in the beta for Mlem v2.0, as far as I can tell.
Ah, that makes sense! Thanks ❤
To be clear, we still want as many TestFlight crash log submissions as possible, even if they're anonymous. If it's a crash that you can reproduce, submitting a GitHub issue is helpful too :)
TestFlight tries to group similar crash logs together, so crashes that can seem "random" can actually help to form a pattern when put together with all the other logs.
Yes, we can see them! When Mlem crashes on the TestFlight, you will get an option to share crash logs with us. In some cases this is very useful for us because it shows us the entire traceback of the error, which can help us to reproduce the problem.
If you can reproduce an issue consistently we prefer you submit it via GitHub too if possible. GitHub allows us to keep track of which issues we've resolved or not resolved, we're able to ask follow up questions, and you as the reporter are able to see when we've fixed it. If you mention in the GitHub that you've submitted a crash log (and roughly what time you submitted it at, if the crash log was anonymous) then we can find the relevant crash log which is super helpful for us.
We don't really have a notification system set up for TestFlight feedback. I go through it whenever I remember to, but I frequently forget 😅 A lot of people submitted similar crash reports to the one you submitted feedback on, but that particular issue is difficult to reproduce consistently so make take some time to fix.
Can we get a back button on iPad?
I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you elaborate please? There is a back button at the top of the screen here:
I tried to get used to the glow around sections in the OLED theme, but it’s just distracting and frankly ugly. I’m requesting an improvement here as well.
Yeah, we aren't happy with it either. Unfortunately adding a border to those elements isn't simple to do - Apple really doesn't want us changing the appearance of forms. We'll try to come up with a better solution before 2.0 release (no promises though).
As Eric said, if you tap on the error it'll give you more info. Have you tried a different image? Some instances impose a maximum file size on the images you can upload. If that happens, it'll show the "error" toast. We'd like to make that error case show a more obvious warning in future.
This is planned; we're tracking the issue here.
It's possible to view this list in the search tab on the Mlem beta. To do so, open the search bar and type a space, then tap on the filter button (just below the cancel button) and choose an instance to filter for.
