If you think an ad-pocalypse is bad, then why would they jump to a platform with no ads at all? They'd likely be paying to be on that platform. Also the fact streaming video from a self hosting platform is much more demanding then text fedi instances like Lemmy or Mastodon. Also no way the fedi could keep up with even a fraction of YouTube's creator tools, or their audience which is their bottom line.

YouTube will probably never be replaced. We can at least go for private front ends like Invidious.

I don't care about protesting, it doesn't work. For me, stopping reddit means to stop opening it out of habit. I find myself automatically opening social media out of habit. So instead of having Reddit be that habit response, I'm training myself to replace it with Mastodon and Lemmy. It's a bit hard since I'm missing a lot content, but it's significantly easier then during the Twitter migration.

Spez didn't care, it was just a small negotiation so he doesn't come across as "fuck disabled people". It didn't work though, he has been a PR disaster.

Because it still lacks content, is pretty unpolished, and the nature of fedi makes it complicated for a lot of people. That's a lot of barriers, so it's going to be a slow growth from here while these issues get worked on.
