This user's spam has been showing up all over the "hot" list on the front page:

@annysins27

I blocked them easily enough, but is there any way to report them to the instance admins?

Per my question in the title.

For some strange reason, I'm having an issue seeing comments on my own threads. I get notifications indicating that I got a comment, but when I go to view it, it says "no comments."

If I copy the post link, logout, then navigate to the thread, I can then see the comments under the thread.

I have no idea why this would be the case. Is anyone else having this issue?

How do I remove the cover from my profile? I cannot see the option to do so.

I have never used twitter and am not on mastodon. I'm subscribed to a few magazines that have microblog posts, though, and I've noticed that 1) all of said posts have hashtags, 2) most of them are coming from mastodon, and 3) I'm starting to get the sense that from the mastodon side they're not actually associated with the kbin magazine.

If I, a kbin user, make a microblog post, is it actually associated with the magazine I posted it to or is it just linked to it via hashtags? Would I have to add the hashtag myself to actually post to the magazine? If microblogs are subscriptions to hashtags rather than to magazines, is it possible to subscribe to a hashtag without a corresponding magazine?

I can't seem to get anything except a 404 whenever I hit page 9 when browsing (kbin.social/?p=9). All other pages seem fine.

I found the FAQ but it doesn't really explain much. I'm looking for a very basic guide here, like what are badges and what are boosts etc.?

Also I see that I can view a list of all the magazines for this instance, but is there a way I can view the magazines for other instances? For example I see a lot of posts from lemmy.world showing up on my homepage but outside of clicking into those posts I don't know how to see what magazines lemmy.world offers.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Specifically how can I upload a profile picture? I'm probably missing something obvious, but I just can't find it. I'm on firefox on windows.

For example, I'm not interested in memes, so whenever i see a community (? not sure qhat the equivalent of sub-reddit is called on kbin), such as https://kbin.social/m/[email protected], I block it.

How do I see the list of the ones that I have blocked?

One reason for wanting to see this is that I seem to have to block a community called "Memes" almost every day - I assume these are on different instances. Is there a way to block any community called Memes (or perhaps even all ones with "memes" in the name)?

I'm 100% it was asked before, I just couldn't find a post, but is there a way to claim ownership over a magazine who's owner is inactive(3+ weeks)? There's a community on lemmy.ml for that !community_requests , is there something similar on kbin?

I came across this thread (https://kbin.social/m/[email protected]/t/241964/Reporting-user-for-harassment#comments) in my feed, and after upvoting a couple of comments, I kept getting an error when I tried to upvote Op's comment (which, perhaps ironically, is a user from kbin). In troubleshooting, I found that:

  1. Refreshing did not solve the issue

  2. I could go to the user page for the kbin user in question, and successfully upvote the comment from the default view (overview page) there.

If it matters, I'm on Firefox mobile for Android 13. Uncertain if this is because of the count of upvoted comments in a single thread, or some interaction between kbin.social user upvoting another kbin.social user in a remote thread.

For some reason, I’m not seeing the ability to add profile information on my Kbin profile. When I go to my profile, it seems to be empty. Am I just missing the edit button? I have wandered through the settings pretty extensively and just can't seem to find it. Thanks in advance for any advice!

I'm trying to subscribe to this lemmy community: https://lemmy.nix-community.org/c/nix
But when I try to open on kbin (https://kbin.social/m/[email protected]) I get error 404. Why? Are there any fixes/workarounds?

There's two very annoying user interface elements that prevent me from getting comfortable with KBin. I'm not sure if these are settings, or bugs on my browser, or what.

One: Every top-level comment in every thread is showing an expand button that hides a lot of the text. So it's not really possible to read a lot of comments without going through an entire post and selecting this button on every comment. I understand this is useful for very long comments but it's hiding comments that are only one line of text. Screenshot linked below because the image attachment element disappears when I stop hovering over it.

Two: On Reddit and Lemmy, there's a button in the interface to collapse a thread and its replies. I'm not seeing that in Kbin.

hello,

i do use

@ magazine @ kbin.social (does work),
while @m/magazine | m/magazine doesn't work.

but if a user with this @ exist in the fediverse, it does try to link to the user instead of the magazine?

here an example: @lain

another way would to be simply [link] but isn't there a easier way?

is there a post/site where things like this are clarified? didn't found one yet.

:)

Can I add favorites? Is it by my interactions with the magazines? Thanks for the help!

I'm trying to find the main Lemmy.world showerthoughts sub (15k subscribers) but only finding a far smaller one (300 subscribers).

Edit: Apparently they're the same community.

My account is on kbin.social, but I'd like to be subscribed to every communit on aussie.zone. Rather than adding every community individually, can I subscribe to the whole instance on my kbin.social account? Like, self-federate to it?

I am always being logged out of kbin on desktop and mobile PWA.

On desktop, using firefox, if I stop using the site for 10-20 minutes, even if the active tab is open with it, I am logged out. Is this normal expected behavior or might I have some setting or addon which is creating this?

I have given kbin an exception to the rule of purging cookies between sessions in case somehow that was the issue. No change.

Never encountered this before.

Anyone else with same issue? Or no?

Alright I really thought I had cracked this nut, but some of these are still eluding me. I went on a run of subscribing to a bunch of remote communities and felt like I had really mastered the fediverse in theory and in execution... then I was humbled.

I'm guessing that the remote communities I've already subscribed to went very smoothly because somebody on kbin already did the hard work of finding them and subscribing, and I was unknowingly riding on their coattails.

The small community I'm trying to join is lemmy.world/c/pennsylvania. So far I've tried:

  1. Pointing my browser to kbin.social/m/[email protected]

    • 404
    • I assume this is because kbin is so far, unaware of this community
  2. Pointing my browser to kbin.social/c/[email protected]

    • I was pretty sure this wouldn't work, but I've been wrong about things I was pretty sure about, before.
  3. Pointing my browser to kbin.social/c/[email protected]

    • I recently learned that kbin is unintentionally picky about capitalization in some cases. When I learned this, I REALLY thought I found the answer to my problem.
  4. Click the magnifying glass, search for https://lemmy.world/c/pennsylvania

  5. Click the magnifying class, search for https://lemmy.world/c/Pennsylvania

  6. Click the magnifying glass, search for [email protected]

    • I really thought this would work because I thought the ! is how you tell your instance to seriously go out and get something, even if it has never heard of it before. (is that just for lemmy?)
  7. Click the magnifying glass, search for [email protected]

I am defeated.

New to kbin. I’m trying to wrap my head around how federation works. If a community develops on a different server/instance than where I created my account, can I create threads and reply to others? Or just view? I read everywhere that federation allows following across different instances, but viewing content is different than participating in a community. If my account is on kbin.social can I create a thread or reply in a thread for a magazine that is in fedia.io?
