My headaches have been so bad! They were terrible in Calgary because of the constant changes in pressure, especially when the chinooks came in but I figured it would get better here. Is there a similar phenomenon in Edmonton that I don’t know about? I want to bang my head against the wall but am afraid to exacerbate my headache.

She is a shift manager but not my employer so I’ll just call her my coworker. My employer is the store manager.

I saw her doing that many times and the best I have done so far is just reporting that to my store manager, but my store manager says “Shift leaders are allowed to use their phones while they are on working on shift” I reminded my store manager that it isnt the issue, my concern was that she didnt wash her hands afterwards, she just said Thanks for letting me know I’ll handle this. I know she hasn’t even talked to her about it. And that coworker was doing it again yesterday. Our mcdonalds serve 1000 customers everyday. I also said to that coworker that this is wrong. She’s kinda bossy so yk it didnt work out well.

Few days back after starting my closing shift, I saw that our buns were expired all throughout the day and no one noticed it. So whole day they were serving those buns with expired timer. I complained to my store manager but all she said was she will talk to the manager’s team but upon talking to one of the shift manager, it turned out she didnt even mention it to the managers team

Is there anything else I can do? I’m afraid of losing job too, so going for alberta food code is too brave for me. Anything that can be done anonymously..?

I'm super uneducated in the matter. But from my perspective I don't see how this impacts us that hugely?

I understand this may (will) mean less Americans buying Canadian goods which in the long term can affect certain jobs and businesses. But we(Canadians) aren't tarrifing their goods. So our prices should remain the same, if not dropping do to excess, no?

A tarrif is paid by the importer then passed to consumer. So this tarrif only financially impacts Americans importing Canadian goods.

Or can someone explain it to me like I'm a child?

So I have a tutoring gig I do on the side and honestly it saddens me how stressed some of these kids are.

They just can’t find a job to get on their feet and the through line in a lot of their stories is - “my parents are getting hella cheesed and want me to carry my own weight” etc etc

And they’ve tried explaining to their parents the state of the economy but they just don’t buy it and even get berated for it being called “lazy bums”, “making excuses” and other gaslight-y type things which weighs on their conscience and makes them feel defective in some way. This is especially strong in ethnic households but really it touches every group in my experience. I can tell this is impeding some of their learning as well through poor self image / low self esteem. And that’s just what they are willing to open up about, I can’t imagine what some of them deal with privately.

Nobody official is openly saying anything about it and the kids/young adults are suffering silently for it. Very unfortunate.

If you are one of these parents - F**K you from the bottom of my heart. It’s reasonable to make demands and see some proof of effort — sometimes kids are apprehensive/fearful but if your kid is doing their best with the hand they got - chill.the.eff.out.

Just wanted to say that you are all greatly appreciated.

Kids look to you as someone that they can count on every day. The personal touches are compelling and you influence their growth into great human beings. Don’t for a second forget that you bring that smile to a kid that may just need that friendly hello in the morning or that “see you tomorrow” when they get on the bus.

I’m sure by now you could’ve walked to Calgary and almost back. Keep it up! You’re worth it. I apologize for voting for a government that doesn’t have respect for the education system and supportive needs of our children.

Its crazy to me how much theft really occurs in the store I work at on Whyte Ave. We cannot be the only store experiencing this many losses. I'm curious to know what it's like for other businesses running on Whyte. Are there professional thieves? I rarely see it with my own eyes and can only wonder if they're masters at it.

My mother in law (75) was supposed to have a hip replacement before Christmas. 4 days before her surgery, she was told all hip surgeries were being cancelled due to shortage of beds.

In the months prior to her planned surgery, my mother in law was in obscene amounts of pain, which lead her to lose a tremendous amount of weight and nearly all her mobility.

In the past 4 weeks, she began falling out of bed, nd falling while walking - as well as get very confused (we believe due to the blinding pain she has been in).

Last Friday, she fell, knocking out her teeth, which resulted in a trip to the hospital. They had her in an emerg unit for 4.5 days, resulting in delirium, her being restrained, not given any pain relief, and we had to encourage them to hook her up to an IV for fluids. They did so on day 4, which finally calmed her and the delirium began to subside.

Yesterday she was moved up to a bed and the difference was night and day. The delirium has mostly subsided, but she is still quite confused and barely mobile.

Initially (yesterday) the dr said they would keep her there until they could get a caseworker involved and get her moved into a facility where she will have hands on help.

Today, they said they are discharging her home on Friday. I am at my wits end. She can not be alone at home, she is still incredibly disoriented and can not walk.

Does anyone have a similar experience who could give us pointers on how to get my MIL the help she needs?

Edit: we are aware this is the doing of Danielle Smith and the UCP and have been cursing her with raised fists and fiery hearts - as are the majority of doctors we've spoken to

Edit #2: I sincerely thank everyone who has left helpful comments and seriously empathize with those of you have are experiencing or have experienced something similar. I endeavor to reply to everyone as time allows.

What the title says…and I do tip at least 20% (except for grocery deliveries because that shit is expensive as hell), but I still do tip decent. I just don’t understand paying for my food, service or item which wasn’t cheap to begin with, pay taxes and service fees, then tip on top of that. I don’t agree with all the “cook at home then”, “get your own groceries” etc. because the restaurant food or groceries weren’t free. I paid for it in full and then some.

At the very minimum, if tipping is such a big deal now, we all should get tips so we can afford to tip each other. That includes tipping your bank teller for spending forever to explain something to you, tipping your customer service rep for being oh so nice when you were being a bitch, tipping your nurse because she was super supportive, let’s just tip one and all!!! I do amazing at my job, people love me, but I get no tips because it’s not allowed, I then have to go out and tip for picking up my own pizza or grabbing a coffee in the drive through.

I’m not mean I promise, but holy smokes, like, yea, be for real!

Signed, Chronic tipper tired of tipping.

Forget the 'lefty environmental' arguments for two seconds. Let’s talk money. These mining projects (which are a finite economic resource) will only really benefit Australian billion-dollar companies while destroying the businesses of Albertan farm and ranch lands that are down river (which can be an infinite economic resource when stewarded properly). Mining will also damage tourism in/around Crescent Falls, Goldeye Lake, and Fish Lake near Nordegg, AB.

Now for some 'lefty' health and environment arguments. These mining projects will 100% cause irreparable damage, by exposing hundreds of thousands of hectares of land within the Alberta Rockies to cancer causing Selenium contamination (*which has not and cannot be remediated). This includes exposure to pristine and critical headwaters that are the source of public drinking water to major Albertan cities and towns.

So, Albertans say goodbye to safe and accessible water and food. Say goodbye to health protections. Say goodbye to beautiful and important ecosystems. Say goodbye to land for grizzly bears, bull trout, and westslope cutthroat trout. Say goodbye to outdoor recreational activities. Say goodbye to this Alberta’s future.

Or…..you can fight back.
