A washing machine is trapped in a fault state even though all the components function (AFAICT). The controller board has two ports:

  • ISP (to attach an ISP programmer to flash new software)
  • USART (4-pin serial port: 0v, TX, RX, 5v)

I’m guessing the ISP port is useless without whatever proprietary software is needed. But what can the USART do for me? Can that be used to obtain the error code and clear it, or reset the board to the factory state? Has anyone done that, without documentation?

Note these two communities are essentially the same:

Mods might want to mention the other community in the sidebar as a related community. Note ATM both communities are on respectable proper decentralized nodes (e.g. neither are on Cloudflare).

The handle has been wobbly lately. I figured I just needed to tighten the screw but to my surprise it was plenty tight. I ended up taking the screw all the way out but the handle is still stuck. I think it might be corroded in place which is means the guts inside are what's wobbling which probably means replacing the works.

Any advice on getting the handle off so I can see what's going on? WD-40 and hammer?
