Original Title: Innertune crashes when I try and restore a database to it google pixel 6a. If there's any tricks to get around this that will be great but if not will put an issue on their github. App is great BTW :)

As the title states

Hi, I remember downloading a proprietary app in the past, with a bubble above any other window, displaying a graph of CPU/RAM usage, overall/battery temperature, etc.

However it was global, is there any app out there that can refine it more ? Like, keeping logs of every individual app CPU/RAM usage, even those running in the background ?

Finally I found some time to finish updating the app to MD3. (Also, thank to @byrno for his help)

You can see the full list of what's new here, but here are the highlights:

  • UI redesign.
  • The app follows system's light/dark theme by default. (App, not PDF pages)
  • An option in the settings to let PDF pages follow system's light/dark theme.
  • Added the Zoom Lock button in FullScreen Mode.
  • Several changes to zooming. The main one is that you can zoom out less than normal zoom.
  • Added an option to save PDF passwords for protected files.

I would really like to work more on the app and add the most requested features, like:

  • Live Text Selecting.
  • Text Highlighting.
  • Home Page with a searchable list of the PDF files on the device.

But unfortunetly, since MJ PDF is a side project of mine, I cannot give it more time. I added, as requested, an option for supporting via LibrePay. If there is enough support, I might drop something else to focus more on MJ PDF.

App page & Download

Hy, so basically there are some channels/groups from which you cannot download photos and videos and also cannot forward their messages to saved messages or others. Is there a telegram fork which removes such restrictions? I hope you understand my problem

Hi all,

I've been trying to improve my online privacy for the past few days and I've learned quite a bit so far. I decided to try and use the basic AOSP apps because they're simple and clean-looking. Most of them work fine on my Motorola (may or may not be important that it's running a stock-ish build of Android from the factory) phone with the exceptions of the keyboard and launcher. I managed to get around the keyboard problem by downloading Simple Keyboard () and it works alright.

The launcher, however, is a complete mess. I've tried everything from using ones from different AOSP GSI ROMs to using Graphene's version and nothing works. If I had to guess, it's probably because Launcher3 isn't a standard launcher- it has both the "home screen" components and some (what I'm assuming is) task switching stuff. I could technically remove all of the extra stuff, but I'm definitely not a programmer and I think I remember seeing some dude on XDA saying L3/QS has like 100,000 lines of code.

Could you guys please recommend me an alternative? All I want is a simple lightweight launcher that's still being maintained. Thanks in advance.

I love Musicolet but it's proprietary and only in the Play Store. Is there a FOSS alternative? The main features I like:

  1. "Now playing" playlist where you can move the order of songs
  2. "Play next" and "add to queue" features for any songs in the library that add that song to the now playing queue without deleting it
  3. Good search function
  4. Folder view showing the actual file/folder structure, in addition to sorting by tags like artist or genre
  5. Not full of bugs and papercuts!
  6. FLAC and Opus support

No questions on this for several years as best I can tell, and the old apps are ~abandoned.

I need to create basic PDFs of receipts and other documents. OCR would be great ... but really the core requirement is simply a PDF format, even if just of image data, as I have to upload them to a portal that will only accept PDF :( Hopefully the app can use the phone camera directly, but even creating PDF's from gallery I suppose would work.

OpenScan and OpenNoteScanner unfortunately appear dead for several years. Are there any options somewhat recently developed/updated? Thanks!

(For additional context, I noticed this app advertised as a FOSS app on multiple places. Seems interesting and the UI looks great, but never seen it mentioned here)

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not recommending the app, I'm simply asking whether it's FOSS / safe to use, since it's advertised as open source (yet is unknown to this community)

Original Title: I use an app for gig work that lets you set up a floating shortcut bar for fast app switching. With a long press you can move it around the screen and there is an option to change the orientation from vertical to horizontal. Any FOSS alternatives?

Hello everyone.

I have been getting numerous reports about users sharing proprietary spyware here. I have been ignoring these reports, but what happened yesterday made me reconsider.

Someone was looking for an alternative to QuillPad, and a user recommended Notion. It eventually came to my understanding that this user didn't even know Notion is proprietary and spyware.

This subreddit has rules. I have been laissez faire about these rules; henceforth, I will be enforcing them. Acquaint yourself with these rules on the sidebar of this subreddit.

This subreddit is for Android (or AOSP) apps. This subreddit is for FOSS, also known as freedomware (different from freeware). This subreddit requires the public and retrievable source code of apps to be shared. This subreddit requires the FOSS license of apps to be shared. We don't allow memes here (I'm considering changing this rule). Anonymous polls are welcome on certain conditions.

If you're not sure if the app you want to recommend is FOSS, don't recommend it! You could be banned.

This is why the default F-Droid repository and the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid repository are recommended for all your app requirements. You can find almost anything you want in those places.

If you got an app from the default F-Droid repository or the IzzyOnDroid F-Droid repository, it is FOSS. You can recommend it here.

If you know a FOSS recommendation that isn't on any of those repositories, share the link to the app's source code. It will be sanctioned by me.

Again, don't recommend an app if you don't know the nature of the app!

For those who don't know the danger of proprietary software, read this brief adumbration to understand what a tracker is.

To know more about trackers, spyware, ubiquitous surveillance capitalism, and why they are dangerous to your life, read this beloved post.

If you recommend proprietary spyware, you will be warned. The next time, you will be temporarily banned. The next time, you will be permanently banned!

Trolls will be permabanned on the spot.

If you don't care about liberty or privacy, this isn't the place for you. There are other subreddits for discovering and recommending Google Play spyware. This isn't the place for that.

This isn't related, but try to flair your posts correctly. Flairs help users find content easily. They are really important. Some subscribers filter the posts here using flairs.

For example, if you want a specific app, the correct flair is Application Request. If you know an app (that is obviously FOSS) you'd love to share with us, the correct flair is Application Suggestion. If you require assistance for a particular app, Application Support is the correct flair.

I have been correcting wrong flairs, but it's getting tiring.

I am thinking of allowing and adding user flairs. Let me know what you think about it.

Have a great day, and enjoy using freedomware. Don't forget to donate to the awesome developers protecting us from rife tracking and data abuse!

Are there apps that would let people who text me on WhatsApp or Telegram know that I'm on other messaging app?

Although vimusic works (for now) I want to move onto an app that has regular updates. I also don't fancy manually adding my songs to this new app. Note: my total collection is nearly 1200 songs 🙃

  • minimal looking interface
  • markdown support
  • optional cloud backup to Nextcloud
  • allow tags
  • custom colours for notes
  • custom colours for tags as well, so that any notes' colour changes to the color of the tag

Currently using Quilpad: Wish it had, * colours to tag * in the notes list, all notes' preview expanded. I can make this preview compact but need to do manually. Wish there were setting for choosing default.

Thanks :)

I was wondering if Droid-ify or F-Droid or something similar could be used for PC.Basicslly,I am asking for a Ninite for FOSS. Please, share your suggestions and recommendations. Thanks.
