Per title, getting ready to install my .2 Atmos speakers. My receiver doesn't support .4, nor do I ever plan going .4, but I guess never say never.

Following the Atmos placement guide, I'm able to install speakers directly in line with my L&R, which would also put them directly above seating and to the side, with the layout of existing lighting in my ceiling.

I know there's some.... Discussion on if the guide should be followed exactly. With that, I'm also able to install speakers slightly inset to my L&R, slightly forward of seating, at about 70 degrees, within the recommendation of the Atmos guide.

So, which option would be preferred? Does it really matter?

I'm prepping to mount a 55" TV to the wall using this Sanus mount. The instructions say “Drywall covering the wall must not exceed 5/8 in"

I'm using this cheap stud finder to find studs. When I scan at the following depths, I get the following results:

  • 0.5" = doesn't find anything
  • 1" = does find the studs but not well enough to identify their centers
  • 1.5" = finds the studs and their centers

Is this a giant red flag that I should not mount the TV here, because the drywall is too thick for the mount? Or is my problem likely just that I'm using a cheap stud finder, and that it's highly unlikely that the drywall is that thick?

I'm planning to just nail into the wall and see where it feels like I'm hitting wood, but any other thoughts/suggestions would be very welcome here.

Thank you very much!

I was gonna post about Atmos not working for streaming apps but apparently that's always been an issue with the console so I decided to focus on this.

It plays Atmos fine when I'm using UHD movies but when I'm playing the only game I know that has Atmos (Resident Evil Village), nothing. My PS5 is set to "Audio Priority: Atmos", my receiver (Sony DH790) is capable and set to Front Height and 5.1.2, my other devices have no issue outputting Atmos on the apps, what is going on?

I just replaced my Samsung F5300 with a Sony x90l.

The plasma was getting annoying with its lack of inputs, as I just got a ps5. Now I can also use eARC.

Did I downgrade my picture quality? Was this stupid move?

The budget includes the projector, screen ,speakers ,and receiver. I was thinking a 5.1.4 Speaker system and a 110" screen. The room is fully light controlled and it measures 24' deep * 14' wide * 8' tall.

Sorry for terrible formatting, pretty new to posting.

Original Title: Planning on getting atmos speakers to have a 5.1.2 setup in the future but how could I achieve that with my ceiling ? Wanted to get the same surround bookshelf and ceiling mount them any better ideas?

I currently have the Nvidia shield, but all of my movies purchased in HDR on google play no longer work. Google tells me to watch them on YouTube, but YouTube doesn’t support atmos or HDR to my knowledge.

What is the best device/application to watch movies in their highest available quality? Do I need to buy a dedicated 4k blue ray player and purchase hard copies of every movie?

just purchased a sony x90l and looking to invest in a speaker system, budget probably 1.5k. i own a pair of edifier 1850dbs and have been using them as fronts so far. i'm looking for advice on what kind of system to build (3.0, 3.1, 5.1, etc) and how much to spend on each speaker- the walls are sorta thin and my mom already says she can hear my tv so i'm thinking a subwoofer might be too loud? not sure. there's also 4 slots for dolby atmos built into the house (with no speakers obviously). below is a drawing of the room. thank you so much in advance!

my ancient Philips HTS still works but its little display on the front on the device which says the DI when in digital input and AUX when in aux input and stuff just isnt visible at all anymore. that little display’s light started dimming and throughout years it just went dimmer dimmer and dimmer to this point where it is not visible at all. it has been like this for over two years now. the issue is i cannot see which surround mode ot which sound mode it is in. those were shown on that little screen before. i havent been able to find any info at all about fixing those type of displays or about these dimming display issues on hts s. can anyone help or is anyone having similar issues with their old home theater systems?

I’ve been investing into my home theater heavily lately. With all my upgrades I’m worried about protecting my investments. What do you use to protect your HT?

Hi to all!!

I can get the LG G3 for 1700€ and the Sony QD OLED A95K for 2500€ , both of 65 inches.

A95K was the best TV in 2022 , LG G3 one of the bests of 2023 , color volume , motion handling, upscale of older content of Sony worth the 800 € diference?

I only watch movies and Tv shows , mostly remux sources and physical disks.

Which opinions you have ? Help me decide.

I bought VSX-534 in this week. First issue - i can't update firmware to fresh from Pioneer website. I still see error 0-70. Maybe i have already fresh firmware?

And other think, u know how to change to see on display unit when i watching movie what sound mode is, like DD Atmos etc. Now display showed me all the time BD/DVD and volume.

I had before Denon and he showed playback mode all the time, and that was good. I don't need to know and see what sound volume is and output :( Any sugestions?

I see now on playback all the time

I want to see when i watching movie

I currently have a Denon X3300w. Do I upgrade to an X3800?

Would I gain anything aside from a newer unit?

I currently run a 5.1 setup. The fronts and surrounds are in wall and in ceiling respectively. I just upgraded my center to an SVS Prime Center as the in wall behind my TV was less than ideal.

EDIT

Thank you!!!!! Looks like I’m good with what I have currently! I can put the FOMO aside.

In the market for a new TV this year, and wondering if anyone here upgraded from a Panasonic OLED- if so, what model did you get and how does it compare? Running a Panasonic GZ1000 for reference.

Hi there,

I just moved into a new home where the previous owners had installed a home theater an Epson 6050ub projector and a Denon 3600h receiver. I've been using an old Roku that doesn't support 4K. We also have an option to use a wired ethernet cable.

Would the Apple TV 4K with Ethernet make sense? It would just be for streaming from standard services, no gaming.

Thanks!

I have my Samsung S90c connected via earc to a Denon S760H. Is there any way I can add the internal speakers of the TV to the mix. They show such a setting if you are using a Samsung Soundbar.
