I'm setting up a dedicated room for my home theater and settled on a size where the average viewing distance will be about 147.6 inches from the screen, which leads me to either a 107-inch projection screen at an aspect ratio of 2.39:1 or a 113-inch screen at an aspect ratio of 16:9.

Looking at Blu-ray releases, the majority of them include Panavision, and I could always go for a bigger screen and just set the projector for the size I want, right?

I’m looking for a cheap 2.1 setup. Nothing serious, that will hook up to my Denon S760H. I’m pretty naive in the audio space. It seems like all the cheaper 2.1s are Bluetooth? I’m looking at these 3 options:

Elac B6 ( Buying sub separately ) Polk Monitor XT15 ( Buying sub separately ) Edifier S351DB

Will these hook up to my receiver? Which of these 3 are best?

Hi everyone, I just made a New 5.1.2 HT (Room Size - 16x16 ft) with the following:

  • Marantz Cinema 40 AVR
  • Focal Aria 926 Towers
  • Focal Aria CC900 Center
  • Focal Aria SR900 surrounds
  • Focal ICW5 Middle Height Speakers
  • Focal Sub 600P

Ive used Umik 1 and Dirac live bass control to calibrate my system and all channels are around 80db (at reference 0db volume) after calibration from my MLP.

Channel levels are between +0.5 to +1.5 for all speakers with the subwoofer at -1.5.

Everywhere I read on the internet it says that the positive channel level is wrong and should be checked. What should I check and how? All my components are high quality so I’m wondering where I’m going wrong.

Should I use the Umik with REW as a spl meter and set all speakers to 75db or am I fine? Also, is the negative 1.5 trim on the subwoofer too little?

Currently I have a 77 CX in my living room downstairs. Semi-bright room, but I've enjoyed the CX over the years. My seated viewing distance is 13'. I also have a 77" A80k in my upstairs loft and a 65" A80J in the bedroom so it's not like I couldn't watch something on an OLED if I was so inclined if I don't go OLED downstairs. I'm considering replacing the CX with either an 83" OLED or one of the 98+" mini LEDs coming soon or already out. I'm not in a hurry to upgrade, just thinking about it and figured I'll wait around awhile until I find a good deal on something. As you can see I love me some OLEDs, but the size on those new mini led sets has peaked my interest. Does anyone here have experience with some of these new massive sets? Mainly talking about the TCL and Hisense at this point.

Hello all, I have a 7.2.4 system. My standing speakers are the older Pioneer Elite SP-EFS73. I recently changed my Pioneer Elite center speaker to Klipsch RP-450C because I felt like the dialogue in movies weren't loud/clear enough.

Any mid range, not super expensive standing speakers to upgrade to? Or the Pioneer Elite SP-EFS73 still good to go?

On my first room correction, I only used 3 different spots for calibration, and the microphone was not exactly horizontal. Also, the positions were probably more than 2ft away from the initial position because I thought I was supposed to place it on actual seats. Oops.

Now that I've done 8 zones with a horizontal mic, the highs aren't as piercing and the trim for each speaker is like +/-1db instead of +/- up to 5db. I also turned my sub up and ignored db level it told me to set it too. My sub came out as -10db and all I had to do was bump it up to -6db for my liking.

However, I did make a new mistake mistake and placed the first position about 1.5ft in front of the main listening position. This has ultimately made the sub too boomy because the sub frequencies really is THAT much quieter 1.5ft forward to the tv screen. When I lay my head back, the natural room resonance for the sub frequencies boost it by at least 3-4db due to how close to the wall it is.

All I want to do is raise up 2.5khz by about 2-3db but it's IMPOSSIBLE to select a single frequency and bump it, let alone controlling Q factor. The circles don't go where your finger is either.

Am I missing something? Does the MultiEq-X software on pc let you do it? This is for a denon x6700h.

Edit: I ended up spending the $200 just for this feature. On step 4, you can add a new tab on the right for a Parametric EQ and control specific frequencies and Q that way.

We like to purchase our products from Best Buy because we already pay for the Total Tech membership. Was looking forward to our first projector and had my eye on the 4550i, it was available for about a month and now no longer?

Any idea why’d they stop the sales of it?

Just replaced an LG player with the UB820. I have DV turned on in the players settings, but when I play the disc the HDR logo pops up on the top right of my LG CX screen.

Dolby Vision works on my TV - both in streaming apps and on my old blu ray player. The status screen on the blu ray player shows it’s DolbyVision, but the TV is only picking up (or at least indicating that it’s picking up) HDR.

We’re using the same HDMI port (passing through my sound bar) as we were with old player.

Any ideas?

Hi all,

Time to upgrade the old Denon AVR1610 that used to be in my dedicated theater basement. I currently use this at our main TV and feel it is time for an upgrade. Currently everything runs direct to the TV. I don't see my setup needing anything more than 5.1 and the only other potential change on the horizon may be a new 77" OLED in the next year or two.

  • 65" 2018 OLED
  • Denon AVR1610
  • These cheap speakers for rear surrounds (Acoustic Audio AA321W)
  • NHT Super Center 2.1 Center
  • NHT SuperZero 2.1 Fronts
  • Dayton Sub-1200
  • Xbox Series X/Switch/sometimes PS5 is hooked up here

Can anyone let me know what what my best options are in the $300 range? Can go a bit more if there are big benefits to doing so, and I don't mind buying used or refurb.

Thanks!

Greetings all, I am looking for some advice on a replacement subwoofer driver. I picked up a mirage ps-8 on the cheap. The box and plate amp are in great condition but the driver has been replaced with a Studio Z 8 Audiopipe STX848. The Mirage plate amp produces 8ohm 100w/400w peak and Studio z sub is a 250w max driver. The driver is bottoming out during HT use. I am assuming this means I need a new driver. The box is ported 9-5/8 x 15-5/8 x 10-⅝ = 0.9187 cubic feet. I have been eyeing the Dayton Audio RSS210HO-8 8 but I am open to other suggestions.
