I just set up my home theater with the Onkyo TX-NR6050 to go with my PS5 and Hisense 65u6gr5 (60hz refresh rate but 2.1 HDMI).

Is it true that if I plug the PS5 directly into the Receiver, it can make things 120hz for supported games even if the TV refresh rate is only 60hz? It also won't allow VRR even though the TV supports it and works when not plugged into the Receiver.

I have 8K enhanced on all of the Receiver HDMI inputs and using 2.1hz cables.

Any idea what's going on here? Thanks!

I have a Denon AVR-X3600H connected to a 3.1 speaker setup. I’d intended to move everything to a different room to do a proper home theater setup (5.1.2 or 5.1.4) with additional speakers but I think it’ll be a few more years before I can do this it looks like. I’ve been diving into Audyssey settings over the last week and had a question on what to set my Amp Assign to considering it doesn’t have a 3.1 configuration option. It’s currently set to 9.1 channels. Is it okay to leave as-is? Or is there another option that might be better suited for me?

Hi! Is there a recommended HDMI cable for running in wall so that the TV stays truly flat against the wall? So many of the HDMI cables I see are not very flexible and very rigid. Trying to run 4 cables in wall to the G3.

Hello!

Owner of a 2019 Vizio P-Series Quantum X TV here, and looking to upgrade.

Loving the Sony X90L but both TVs have 8.1 mixed usage reviews on Rtings.

Does anyone know if an 8.1 total in 2023/4 would still be a noticable upgrade from an 8.1 in 2019?

Basically title.

Can I save some money on an AVR by buying one without HDMI 2.1 if I plan to connect my PS5 direct to my TV, and then my TV to my AVR? Are there any negatives to this?

I just bought a 120hz 4kTV and want to take advantage of that.

Let's discuss. Would appreciate especially the thoughts of people that have been in similar situations.

I mean more so "is it possible without being rude" rather than is it physically possible. Note: I wouldn't be watching movies late at night.

Are subwoofer isolation pads and the like likely to preserve apartment neighbors from being bothered? Or do things like that just make the difference between them being upset with you vs VERY upset with you?

We have a 12'x12' corner theater setup with 4 theater seats and the backbar with 4 other seats. See the above image. It is roughly 12 feet from the left wall to the corner and roughly 12 feet from the corner to the far wall.

Currently we just have a little 2.1 soundbar under the tv, and I've been wanting to upgrade to a good audio system for a while. However, I have little to no experience with audio systems as a whole.

The issue and why I am looking for suggestions, is that I fear there isn't enough room anywhere behind for surround speakers, and it would cause very unbalanced audio. The ceiling is fairly low (roughly 7 feet) and we have a small area on the right where we could attach something for rear speakers. There is drywall there covering the ducting. And I have full access to the ceiling area to run wiring, but it is a very low volume ceiling. I also don't mind putting speakers on the walls pointing in.

Should we just keep speakers as front firing out from the tv and not do anything behind? I fear like that is going to cause really bad and unbalanced audio. And if so, what kind of a system would be recommended? Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!

A downside of LCD to OLED or micro-LED is bleeding of background light to adjacent pixels. There’s a lot of articles that simply end the explanation with “background light shine through” or “bleed into surrounding area”.

I’m wondering WHY it shines through pixels that are black (set to block all colours).

Article links or explanation appreciated.

I have 4 Polk psw505 subs. 2 in front, facing my sectional sofa seating area. My sofa has to go against the back wall. (I know we prefer not to do that, but this is my only seating option in my condo so it is what it is...🙄) anyway, with my sofa against the back wall I have 2 additional subs on each side of the sofa along the back wall, facing toward the front wall...

My question is, would it be better to turn the 2 rear subs 90 degrees sideways so that the drivers of each sub are facing toward the seating area, or should I keep them facing forward?

Recently setup my new 3.1 system and have a couple questions. I’m completely new to using an AVR, Using a Denon X3800h Currently I have it wired as follows:

TV(arc HDMI 3) -> AVR-> speakers

Xbox One X -> TV (HDMI 1)

  1. when I press the “Setup” button on the AVR remote, the setup opens but I manually have to use the Tv remote and select the “Source” and then select it. Should it not open automatically? Am I missing a connection or have it backwards?

  2. when watching TV or YouTube the AVR automatically selects “Direct” and the center channel turns off. If I swap to a movie on Netflix then the center is working with dialogue. For the TV apps or any source for that matter can I not select to have all 3 LCR working?

For HDMI input audio: Bitstream selected

Digital output audio output: PCM selected (only other option is DTS Neo 2.5) - Dolby Digital becomes available in Netflix and YouTube.

Sound Output: Receiver HDMI

What have I done wrong?

For right now - will be pairing my new Samsung S90C (with Dolby Atmos) with a new Denon S760H. House I'm in has 5 ceiling speakers - 3 in front and 2 in rear. Also have a powered Subwoofer. I know that's not ideal for Dolby Atmos, but it's what I'll be going with for now.

What settings to the Denon will help me get the most out of this system. I am most interested in settings for Movies. I have Netflix which does have some content in Dolby Atmos, but obviously not all. Also watch Prime and Max.

Don't really want to be be setting/resetting the modes based each time I watch something different with different audio capabilities.

Following up to this post (back when I was going to spend way less haha)

I have these ordered or picked up already!

  • RSL Speedwoofer 12s ($700)
  • Polk OWM3 (x4) Atmos ($300)
  • KEF Q150 (x4) ($545 - got them off fb marketplace)
  • Onkyo NR 7100 ($600)
  • Monolith speaker stands 32in for the surrounds - a little higher than ear level to clear the recliner back better and then these to angle them down a little back towards ear level wedge
  • monolith 28 in for the L and R

Now just waiting to find a deal on a used Q650C or something similar.

Thanks for all the help!

Just got a DenonS750h along with paradigm atom bookshelf’s and a Center. Audyssey won’t let me change the L&R speaker size or crossover, will however allow me to adjust the center size. What am I missing?

Hello!

I have a Benq X3000i projector and a Samsung TV. I have all my devices hooked up to a Denon AVR-S760H receiver.

I want to be able to switch between my TV and the projector depending on what I want to play or watch movies on.

I'm looking at a 1 In - 2 Out splitter that does 8K60Hz and 4K@120hz.

Do I need this splitter to have eARC ports? Is there a splitter someone can recommend me if so? Thank you!

My Sony A95K is mounted above the fireplace. While there are HDMI, power and cat ports on the wall behind the TV…they all terminate on the wall to the left. That’s where the AVR and other components are located. The HMDI and cat cables were run behind the walls during construction. Now I’d like to upgrade the HDMI cables so I can get the best quality…would like to get Dolby Vision, but they seem to have been stapled/secured so I cannot simply pull and replace them. So, instead of putting holes in the walls, it was suggested that I get an HDBaseT HDMI extender.

Anyone here have experience with one they would recommend? Any other suggestions on other potential solutions?

Hello All!

I have a Denon AVR-S760H and I am unable to get the digital optical sound to function.

I have a projector as well so I want my TV to go directly to the receiver via the optical cable. I have followed the Denon recommendations of connecting cable from TV OUT to the Optical IN on the receiver.

I have HDMI control and passthrough turned on. I have assigned the input to the TV audio source as well.

Is there anything I am missing? Thank you!

Hello!

Currently I have two sound systems which I would like to merge into a single one:

For listening to music: 2x Magnat Supreme monitors powered by a homemade Tripath amp (amp and power supply from hifimedy).

Current home Cinema A Sony blu-ray with integrated 7.1 speaker surround system.

What I would like: * Denon Amp with 9.2 chanels * Speaker system: 2 front columns, center, LFE, 2 rear, 2 front up-firing (height speakers)

The Polk XT series have everything I would like (including the height speakers), but the price is out of budget. I was looking into Jamo. Then I found Dynavoice...

Does anyone have a good recommendation ? I wanted the new sound system to be a good compromise between listening to music and watching movies.

Hi all. I recently purchased the wharfedale dx-3 Hcp with the denon x2800h and after setting it all up and going through all the calibration settings and setup iam not that happy with the subwoofer. I am very new to home theatre and only have a tiny sitting room so thought the dx-3 hcp would be ideal for the size of the room.. I am overall happy with the speakers but can't seem to get the sub to work very well it just seems to distort too easy. So my question is, would I be better off just getting a better sub or return the whole system and start again? Thanks in advance 😊
