Are samsung signage displays good for video presentation? I'm looking primarily at the QM65C.

I really just want a static flatpanel with 2x HDMI Inputs and a single eARC output. No SMART functions or even a SMARTos. I off-board all that and find it cumbersome to the non tech people in the house.

Hello everyone

I am currently building my TV cabinet and am finally looking into a surround sound system. I currently have a stereo sound system which has great sound but I finally have the opportunity to get an even better sound experience. And as I am building the cabinet myself, I want to consider the space for the AVR into the planning

Existing equipment

I have currently have two main speakers which are connected with an XLR cable to my mixer. The mixer gets input from a vinyl player, an AUX cord for the phone and it used to be directly connected to the monitor to get the audio from the game consoles. I got two speakers from my sibling for which they have no use. I want to mount them behind the couch on the wall. I also recently upgraded my TV from a monitor to a smart TV. Due to the size of my room and the equipment I already have I think a 4.0 setup might be the most reasonable.

| Device | Company | Model | |

|

|

| | Main speakers | KRK | Rokit 10-3 | | Secondary speakers | JBL | Control One | | Mixer | Mackie | 802VLZ4 | | TV | LG | OLED65C37 |

The links are to the current products, but mine might be older.

Questions

Which audio receiver would be best suitable for a 4.0 setup?

I have found the Denon AVR-S660H for ~ 300 € and on here the Denon AVR-S570BT and Denon AVR-S760H are suggested. The first two seem more reasonable pricewise as my budget is somewhat limited. I might upgrade to a 5.0 or a 5.1 setup in the future, but the KRKs have a good low range, so I am quite happy with them right now.

How do I connect the surround speakers to the AVR?

Behind my couch I have two ethernet outlets. Can I use them to connect the speakers with audio over ethernet? Or does that only work if they have a direct connection? The JBL Control One only have the traditional speaker wires as input.

I am correct that none of the more budget AVRs have XLR as an output?

Ever since I helped out for a small sound company and had issues with 1/4" connector (buzzing), I am a huge fan of XLR, but none of the AVRs seem to have it. Is that normal right?

I need to connect all consoles, etc. to the AVR and not to the TV, right?

I can't connect the consoles to the TV and then connect the TV sound to the AVR right. If I connect a switch to the TV and then get the sound via eARC to the AVR I would lose some sound quality, correct?

I am very grateful for all the help.

Hi all,

The last time I was putting together a home theater rig was around 2010, so I'm not up to speed with the current tech. Can someone explain what are the features to have in a receiver? I usually buy used. That will likely be 7.1.2 setup (FL, FR, C, SL, SR, SBR, SBL, Sub, and two height speakers). All Monitor Audio radius series speakers. The issues I've been having with my current Denon AVR-2310 is unreliable surround passthrough support (most often I only see two channels on the receiver, coming from Nvidia shield 5.1 or full Atmos source) - I noticed this problem more with new .mkv rips. Looks like my old receiver does not understand them. Also correct lipsync is a problem. Do I need e.g. eArc?

Any help would be appreciated

The desktop client obviously doesn't have the ability to do that for some stupid reason, connecting an iPad or Android phone via usb-c to HDMI cable doesn't allow it; so what are the options?

I was looking at something like the Eversolo DMP A6 but apparently that only does PCM?

Hi, I am finishing drawing for our contractor to create our custom tv furniture. I am wondering if 5.1.4 is suitable for our room. We have large ceiling light before tv, first row of ceiling speaker will be after it with some spacing, but pretty close, so I am afraid if it will not create bad distortion. Also back speakers are not evenly distributed because of spacing between doors to terrace. Thanks

  • TV: Sony XR-85X95L
  • Receiver: Marantz Cinema 50
  • Front: B&O BeoLab 8000 (Want to upgrade it, but still love the design)
  • Center: Kef Q650c
  • Subwoofer: Kef KC62
  • Rear: Kef T301 (I hope it will be good enough)
  • Ceiling: Kef Ci160QR

(numbers are in meters, hi from prague :))

Hello!

I recently moved from a single-story home to a two story home and am setting up my new living room and 5.1.2 audio system. I have a Yamaha Receiver that works great and powers the 5.1.2 speakers as well as a Zone 2. In my old home I had access to the attic and ran ceiling speakers throughout the home in the kitchen, garage, etc so I could play music throughout using party mode. I had volume controls in each room and a zone selector to turn certain rooms off and on as needed. Unfortunately having a 2 story home this isn't so easy now. I wanted to see if y'all could help me understand some options about potentially doing this wirelessly in the new home?

I noticed the Yamaha has a RCA Zone 2 output as well that I presume I could do a audio transmitter but wasn't sure what would be best and scalable. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Here's a photo of my setup so far, the receiver is in a media closet where the ladder is on the right of the photo.

Hi, I just got a TESmart 16×1 HDMI Switch 16 in 1 Out 4K HDMI Switcher (yesterday) expecting it could replace my 2 UGREEN HDMI Switch I use currently (they are 5in-1out, so I need to use 2, connected together. No issues with the setup being like this, though). However, when I replaced those 2 UGREEN devices by this TESmart, I only got 1080p instead of 4K. I also didn't get any audio. I kept the same cables I use with UGREEN, so it can't be issues with the cables.

Because it didn't work at all (no 4k and no audio), I disconnected it and connected back my 2 good old friends UGREEN and everything was back to normal (4K60 and audio).

Do any of you have any idea why it's happening? Or it just doesn't support PS5 and Xbox Series X like those $30 UGREEN switch does?

By the way, I've connected a total of 7 devices, but only tested it with the 2 main ones: the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. Both got no audio and only 1080p output. Using the same cables and the UGREEN switch I got 4K60 and audio without any issues. I have the output cable connected to a Samsung QLED 4K Q60C Series

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thank you!

I don't know who needs to hear this but you need to do at least do the "auto calibration" via Samsung SmartThings. i was prompted by Samsung SmartThings on a whim when i got a new phone and just did it.

I was satisfied with my 77" S90C out of the box because i read reviews that said out of the box, the image quality is good. However, i noticed that some colors were saturated and some scenes were very "blacked out". Like things in the shadows just appeared black.

ONce i did the Samsung SmartThings automated calibration via the Smartphone, there was a noticeable difference in picture quality. One key setting is that set it to "movie mode" and set colour mode to "warm". The picture looks much more natural.

After the calibration, it showed a BEFORE and AFTER, they showed that images in the sunlight were more yellow rather than white. Probably due to the WARM setting.

Also i had previously manually set the brightness to 15 instead of 50 (default) to reduce eye strain. But after the calibration, it set the brightness to 31 but w/o the eye strain. It seems that the brightness might bring out the details in the black/dark scenes.

I had been watching "Fall of the House of Usher" on Netflix during that time, and noticed that in the dark scenes with the two characters speaking in candlelight, the reflection of a yellow tint on the characters due to candlelight is more "realistic". And the dark background had more details instead of pure black.

Im not sure if this is the right sub, but am trying to figure out this problem and would appreciate the help.

I am trying to get my PC sound to come out of my surround sound speakers. I have an older receiver (Sony STR-DE835) and an older tv but it seems to work fine with my xbox and not PC so was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

So i have an hdmi coming out of my video card going into my tv, i then have a digital audio out (coaxial) going from my tv to my reciever. Which works fine for my xbox but not PC, which leads me to believe its something on that side of it

But would appreciate any and all help, Thanks!

I have a macbook pro with 2 USB-C ports. I also have an HDMI - USB-C adapter.

Whenever i connect the HDMI to one fhe 1, 2 or 3 ports, the laptop finds the AV-Receiver, but no sound is coming out.

I've ran the AV-Receiver setup through a monitor and the speakers are working. AV-Receiver is Denon 1700H

Thoughts on buying a new £450 setup like the Wharfedale DX-3 vs a 10 year old setup like the Q Acoustics 7000i that were £1k new are now around £450 used.

I’m a bit torn, and hoping for some input from y’all.

I was leaning towards the DIY side of things and getting close to going with the Marty Sub… but I got turned onto the larger Rythmik sub and love the idea of it being tuned to 16hz or 12.5hz and curious about the direct servo tech in it which purports to provide more accurate bass.

Does anyone have experience with Marty subs and Rythmik to give me some guidance?

I have a PS5 connected to a brand new 4K TV via hdmi 2.1, and then from the TV to a soundbar via eArc. Randomly, the video signal (I assume) is lost for a few seconds (sound as well). I tried switching the 2 hdmi cables (Audioquest brand), still losing signal. Sometimes it happens twice a day, sometimes only once every 2 or 3 days.

I've had the PS5 hooked up to an old 1080p TV via cheap hdmi cable for a couple of days now, to see if the issue might be the console itself, so far no signal loss.

On the 4K/soundbar setup, I've been using a PS4 for equally as long to see if the issue lies with the setup, but again nothing so far.

I'm running out of ideas here 💀 Any suggestions as to how I can make sure which component is faulty? Thanks.
