Hello everyone! I am having an odd issue with my audio cutting out and hoping someone here can help me or send me in the right direction... -The issue is when me or my wife are watching TV or a movie, the sounds cuts out for 1 to 3 seconds when we stand up from the couch. Then is goes back to normal. (Video stays on) -I have a newer Samsung TV and a newer Denon reciever (can provide models if needed). -I have the TV hooked up via Ethernet Cable and use the TV as my streaming hub. -I have the 2 hooked up via HDMI cable through the ARC input and output. I just use the receiver for sound and I have no other devices hooked up. -Both the TV and Receiver have had the firmware updated to the most recent. -I thought the issue (and still think it might be) has something to do with Static Interference when standing up. I checked all wires and connections and everything seems ok. I also bought some cheap car anti-static items and held them while standing up, and also placed them in various areas to see if it would help. And they didn't. -Also I switched recievers with an older one I had to see if the reciever was the issue, but the old Pioneer reciever did the exact same thing as the Denon. -I have checked the Receiver settings and TV settings and everything seems ok there. Sorry this is long, but the issue is extremely annoying and I am at a loss of what could be causing this issue. I still think it may be something to do with Static, but I dont know. Anybody here heard of this issue? And maybe have an answer? Thank you all so much and any input is very appreciated.

Right now, I have the bottom 1/3 line of the TV at eye level. This is pretty good visually but now the center speaker is above the TV angled down. It looks and sounds ok but I want it to be better.

So I put my center speaker on a tv dinner try and put it in front of my TV. Now the center's tweeter is right at ear level. It sounds great but obviously it is in front of the tv.

I'm thinking of raising the TV another foot so it can clear the center. It'll line up the center of the tv to my eyes if I'm leaned back on the sofa.

What do you guys do? Have the TV perfectly eye level without having to recline while putting the center speaker above or below the tv, or do you do what I'm thinking about doing and having the center line up to your ears and tv a little higher? I'm not really a recline guy so it might take some getting used to but I figure it'll be a good compromise considering the center position has been bugging me for over a year.

Hi, all,

I appreciate any help you can provide on this issue...

I bought some used Polk Audio RT/FX Bipole/Dipole Speakers and have them set up as surrounds with my Denon S750.

Two different pairs are doing the same thing -> crackling when certain music is playing in different movies. Interestingly, the crackling only comes out of the side of the housing that has the 1 inch and 5 inch tweeters (vs the side that just has the 1 inch tweeter).

I've run Audyssey setup via MultiEQ. Settings include:

  • Dynamic Volume is enabled - I tried disabling, but didn't seem to help.
  • Dynamic EQ is enabled - turning off helps a little
  • Surrounds are set to small with 100Hz crossover
  • Midrange Compensation is enabled for the Surrounds - tried disabling, but didn't seem to help.

I've also tried:

  • different streaming devices - includes playing streaming videos (e.g. via Amazon Prime) as well as MKVs thru Plex
  • different speaker cables
  • using a Polk T15 (monopole) - issue is not as prevalent

I'm thinking it's the Denon AVR (rather than the speakers or wiring) based on other posts I've seen in this sub, particularly since I'm seeing the behavior with two different pairs of the RT/FX speakers.

Any suggestions on what I need to do that I haven't already tried?

Suggesting to use monopoles instead of dipoles/bipoles won't help. I am using them for a reason.

I’m having audible distortion, clipping, and amps shutting off - clearly I don’t have this set up right.

Here’s my hardware setup:

Yamaha RX-V781 Receiver, in 5.1.2 mode for Atmos.

I have B&W 685 S2’s for my L/R, and a B&W HTM 62 center channel. My 685 S2’s are rated at 100w, 8ohm resistance.

I bought two Samson Servo 120 rack amps to serve as external amps for the L/R speakers. Maybe the center too, if it works out. Each amp is capable of 120W in bridged mode at 8 ohms.

I’m using the pre-outs on my receiver via rca to pass off the L/R channels to these amps.

I feel like I should be able to set the amp gains to 30-40% and have that be plenty of power for the speakers, but when using them with the receiver, I have to have the amp gain almost maxed, and the receiver channel balancing at +9db (out of 10) in the system settings. All other channels are set around -5db to +1.5db

I feel like that’s way too much power just to get normal listening volumes, and they distort or clip (not sure which) in loud movie sections. Sometimes one or both amps shuts off. The clipping light indicators on the amps never come on.

What am I missing here - I don’t feel I have many variables to play with: receiver gain for each channel and amp gain for each channel.

As a sanity check I hooked the amps up to my Numark DM1090X mixer and turntable, and the Samson amps cranked out plenty volume at only 40-50% gain. I’m confident the amps work fine, and are as capable as expected.

Any ideas would be welcome! TIA

So I've got an awkward room to place a home theatre. Two walls have windows and the third has a door (last one is storage) so I can't place the TV and speakers anywhere central.

I end up with the TV sandwiched between two speakers in the small gaps either side of the windows or door. It kinda works, but means outside the main listening position, every chair is outside the listening space with both left and right channels on the listeners left side.

It's really far from ideal and not sure what else I can do. I've tried placing one speaker to the left of the TV and the other all the way past the open door in the right side , but then you get unbalanced audio. The left channel appears to come from the TV while the right channel is so far out you end up focusing on the speaker and not the picture on the TV.

Is there any kind of solution or am I up a creek?

I currently have a Denon AVR-X1500H and I'm looking to replace it with a Pioneer VSX-LX305 that is currently on sale. Current setup is 5.1.2 with Kef R3s for LR, R2C for center, Q150s for rears, Q50A for Atmos and Monolith M15 for the sub. The Pioneer does not come with pre outs for external amplier but I'm sure if I would ever need it. I don't think I'll add anything else to my system, just replacing the rears with something bigger. Is this a good upgrade or for my needs should I stay with thr Denon.

I have a TV on a wall that is facing some woods. Contemplated putting in a window and relocating the TV but there are several reasons this isn’t super awesome.

Could I display a window view on my TV instead?

When I’m not watching TV I’d like a view out toward those woods.

What would you recommend? Some sort of WiFi camera?

Bonus points if I can watch the deer in infrared at night. lol.

Ive seen some virtual window products.
