Hi everyone,

I've been on a lookout of local second hand shops to start my hometheater journey and found some good deals on Denon AVR-X2500H and Dali Oberon 3 bookshelf speakers, what sub I will settle for, I still haven't decided. In a few months I would add a Dali Oberon Vokal center speaker to this and further in time another 2 speakers for the rear.

My question is: Will the receiver be enough for all this? Should I already be thinking about an amp? Or should I spend 200€ more on a receiver and get the Denon AVR-S970H or this would make no difference?

Cheers

So I have both of these receivers just kicking around, I typically liked using the Sony since it has manual equalizing knobs on the front for Treble, Mids, and Bass. I was just curious since I'm looking into downsizing coming the next year, not so much downsizing my audio equipment so much as downsizing my entire life. Which of these would be the better save and sell/chuck the other? They both work perfectly fine and can go between 75-99 used on ebay after shipping. I don't have a remote for either. Thoughts? Suggestions? I've honestly been thinking about just Axing the whole receiver setup and going to a Sony HT-A7000 soundbar system or a Klipsch Cinema 1200, I'd prefer to have dedicated backside channels but want an upfiring soundbar speakers for Dolby Atmos. If I was looking to go wild and get back into the whole /proper/ home theater setup I'd go with some high end SVS theater speakers, but that's like 3 or 4 thousand for just the speakers. My biggest issue I have with receivers in general is it's hard to filter out all the marketing gook.. Like what REALLY makes 100watt 5.1 recievers better today than oldies like my 507 or the se391 that are both 5.1 100watts tii? Just the connections on the back since neither of these have HDMI passthroughs and such? I don't know.....

The previous owner of my house left me with a home theater in the basement. This was almost 7 years ago now, and I don't know how old the subs were when I bought the house. Either way, as I understand it, if your Epik subs are dead, there's not much you can do about it these days, unless you can get them fixed yourself.

My speaker setup is (all Klipsch)

2 RF-7 main floor speakers

4 RS-62 surround speakers

2 RB-61 top surround speakers

1 RC-64 center speaker

Driving this is a Denon AVC-X3700H, and I also have a Parasound HCA2205A 5 channel amplifier.

I am looking for suggestions to replace the subs, I will probably have two of them eventually, but my budget might not allow me to get both at the same time. Obviously I don't want to bottleneck my system with too cheap subwoofers either. I believe the Epiks are dual 15 inch drivers, so they might have been overkill for the setup I have? One of the subs died a while ago, so I have been using just the one until it too died recently.

Ooook so I have done some extensive research about the topic but before investing money into it I'd rather get confirmation that it will work!

PC has 1 HDMI output + 3 Display Port outputs

PC is connected to everyday screen by Display P

PC will be connected to Projector by HDMI

PC will be connected to Soundbar (Klipsch 600) by SPDIF (since no HDMI ARC output)

However, PC does not currently have SPDIF output. Therefore I will need something called a DAC converter if I understand correctly? Something that plugs into a USB port of my PC and provides me with the Optical Output I need?

Any cheap one to recommend?

No loss of sound quality using these?

Thanks a million!

I made a post earlier that I'm planning to make new Home Cinema and wanted to know what people think are the weakness of my setup, I had 2X Ci5160RLM THX for front sides and rest were Ci3160RLM THX in 7.2.4 setup, however majority pointed out to swap center to an extra 5160 instead to have LCR same speaker type..... This might create power issues for my amp setup which consists of:

  1. Marantz Cinema 40 receiver
  2. Marantz MM7025 power amp
  3. Subs are 2X KEF kube 12b

Basically should I stick to this combo or upgrade power amp only to 7055? Should I switch to pre amp and amp combo like 8805 and 7706? Should I switch to Denon?

I'm basically a noob that need advice to get audio done right

Are there any AV-Rs that allow to configure volume increase per click?

I mean who sets theirs to -36.5 dB or something?

I have a SVS PB-1000 Pro and a Denon s760h AVR. My speakers are set to small and 80 hz crossover. My sub is set to LFE, phase 0, and 120 hz. On my SVS app, I have the volume at -7 and on my AVR test tone, it is at -1 DB.

So I just bought a Klipsch R-52c and after reading A LOT of posts I kinda have buyers regret. Did I just waste my money? Should I return it and get something else? I got Klipsch cuz my LR speakers synergy b3 (they were given to me) are the same brand. I’m open to suggestions of course, really trying to stay around )$150/$200. Should I stick with it and get newer Klipsch bookshelf speakers? I almost got Sony sscs8 if that helps any.

I currently have my subwoofer volume at -7 on the app and my subwoofer DB is set to -1 on my AVR. Will those settings give me a lot of bass? My speakers are set to small and crossover to 80hz. I have my subwoofer in LFE and 120hz crossover. I get a good amount of bass when I watched House of the Dragon season 1 on 4k Blu-ray, but not so much when I watched The Flash on 4k Blu-ray.

Hi everyone. Movie buff and home theater nerd here, currently living on a 55inch TV w 7.1 set up. I'm going to get married in May and will be living with the Mrs. She has given me carte blanche to set up the entertainment system at her place and am considering to finally upgrade to a 4k system, using a projector.

The projector I'm eyeing is the Epson TW8400. I'm trying to spend reasonably (we do have a wedding to pay for) and I'm looking for advice on

  • screens: Im looking for a 120inch screen. I've seen some on eBay and China websites, my question is how much of a difference does a screen make between manufacturers? If it's a significant difference, where would you recommend me to look for a good, affordable screen?
  • sound: if I understand correctly the TW8400 has optical HDMI sound output, is this good enough for me to just route to my existing 7.1 or should I look into investing in Atmos? If so,how do I even start looking at an atmos setup? My goal is as close to a cinematic experience as I could possibly obtain.
  • blu ray playback: I have regular blu rays, no 4k. Does anyone know how a regular blu ray would look through a 4k projector? Is it necessary to upgrade all of my blu ray or is it a situation where some movies aren't noticeable and some movies are?

Those are all my questions, apologies if I sound like a neanderthal but projectors are a completely different ballgame for me.

I had a 65in Samsung mounted that has a backlight issue so I just replaced it with a 65in TCL Q7 and the screws from the old mount do not fit the new TV.

The instructions for the Q7 say it needs m6x18mm screws.

Do I simply go to home depot or similar places and just get 4 screws of that size/spec (m6x18mm) and use the old mount (idk the name/specs of the mount, sorry) or do I have to buy a new mount altogether? (says VESA 300x300, which to my understanding is just a size/spacing measurement for mounts)

I do not commonly see the screw size listed on the various mounts available online so, are there only certain mounts that have m6x18mm screws as part of the assembly?

Appreciate any guidance or advice.

Anybody get LG to fix a TV if still within the standard manufacturer warranty period although the unit was purchased from an unauthorized vendor? I don't have an issue with my TV but I am just curious.

I found somebody on facebook selling an unopened 77" c3 for dirt cheap so i purchased without thinking. The TV looks great. Any chance LG would repair under manufacturer warranty if I don't have any receipts? It has a serial number and all so LG knows the manufactured date.

Hi, I'm new to this side of technology. I really want to get a receiver that will prevent me from needing multiple remotes to turn on the TV ( Hisense 55a65h ) I have. I've read some mixed reviews about ARC and its functionality. After looking at some (Denon AVR-591) and (Yamaha HTR-5750) with either optical and or HDMI ARC, it would make more sense budgetarily to get an older receiver with minimum optical connection, unless ARC could work, then HDMI would be preferable.

Would it work in my case or is it TV-AVR case dependent that may just be a gamble and has some element of randomness/luck?

We bought a house with 5 speakers already in the basement ceiling. I know nothing about home theater audio. We don't need anything hi fi or fancy but we want to get something so we can use them. We'll be upgrading to a bigger 4K TV later too.

Here is what I know:

  • 3 speakers in the front, two in the back
  • The three in the front are bigger and all the same, but I don't know what type
  • The 2 in the rear are smaller and they say TruAudio on them
  • There are 6 wires coming out of the wall that are connected to the 5 speakers
  • One of the wires, the other end is exposed on the left of the room -- I presume for the subwoofer
  • I don't know the specs of the speakers

Here is what we want:

  • 5.1 surround sound
  • Ideally a single receiver that I can connect the wires to that connects to my TV over optical or HDMI (CEC for control)
  • I don't want to put the receiver under the TV and would rather put it on top of either bookshelf. This means I'll have to somehow extend the existing wires coming out below the TV. Is that okay to do?
  • I assume I'll need a subwoofer too? It would be ideal if the subwoofer is wireless so I can put it behind the couch. If not, I'll put it to the right of the left bookshelf and just connect it directly to the receiver.
  • I want to be able to control volume with my Roku remote. Right now the Roku remote controls the TV volume -- which would work too. We only use Roku. Right now the Roku remote turns the TV on and controls the volume. We don't need/use any other remote. I'd prefer to keep this kind of setup.
  • I'm not looking for cheap, but I'm not looking for expensive either. Most of our movie watching is kids/family movies. But every now and then I watch something with BOOM. :)

I'm including pictures below.

Speakers in the ceiling, 6 wires below the TV, 1 wire (sub) on the left
