Hello, I‘m searching for a good subwoofer for my 5.0 system. Should be available in Vienna Austria and the budget is maximum 500€, better would be around 300€.

My current system is: ELAC Dbr62 as front, Magnat c53 Center and for surround I have two decent but not high end self build bookshelf speakers which I build like 5 years ago. AVR: Denon x1700h. My room is around 13m2 and full of stuff. Does anyone know something good?

Looking for an upgrade on a budget.

This set is currently $350 on Adorama. Its a 5.0 speaker setup:

2 Jamo S 809 Towers

2 Jamo S 803 Bookshelves

1 Jamo S 83 Center Speaker

I've seen reviews saying its not a very good/accurate set but for the price what do you guys think?

I'm between this, the monolith 5 audition set (~$450) or a Samsung q990c ($840). I already have a Denon s760h.

My current 2.1 setup uses Micca RB42X + Dayton SUB-1000 powered by an SMSL Q5 Pro DAC/Amp connected via USB to my HTPC. I have a recertified Denon AVR-960H ($360), an RB42X center ($70), and COVO-S for surrounds ($50), in the cart. What would you choose to upgrade my 2.1 to 5.1 for $480-$600? While there's no physical space for rear surrounds and I don't think I'll ever add Atmos channels I'd have to be saving a significant amount to go with a 5.1 or 5.2 receiver.

Background : had a house fire and am in the reconstruction phase - have access to all walls and interstitial spaces. I have run a ton of Smurf tube to accommodate the network.

Question 1 : where should I put drops to accommodate a basic but modern audio system?

Question 2: what type of wire should I run?

Question 3: anyone have any resources I can read that will educate me on whole home audio ?

TIA

Little too big for my liking but love the sound. Looking for bookshelf speakers as those would fit on my TV stand to free up floor space. What options should I look at around the $250 price range to switch these out with? I expect of course to lose a little audio quality with the change. Thanks!

looking for some confirmation on if i'm reading understanding this correctly.

i'm looking to build some bass traps. As I understand it you'd want to focus on the frequency range the material's NRC to maximize the effectiveness.

| Product | NCR 125hz | NCR 250hz | |

|

|

| | Rockwool 80 2" | 0.43 | 0.78 | | OC 705 2" | 0.16 | 0.71 |

wouldn't this indicate that the Rockwool 80lb would be better? I ask because i see many online folks talk that specifically for Bass Traps that the Owens Corning is better? I mean not really much difference in the 250hz band but that seems a fairly large difference in the 125hz band. Am i understanding this correctly?

Brand new to home theatre, although its been something I've really wanted for YEARS. Finally has some extra cash sitting around so I splurged a bit on some boxing day sales. Can someone please advise me on mixing speaker brands? I bought a nice klipsch centre speaker and subwoofer, I've got some older tower speakers my dad gave me I'll use for left and right, now I found a nice deal on some Polk OMW3's for rears, any reason not to pull the trigger on them? I can't imagine it would matter if I mixed polk with klipsch but any advice would be gretaly appreciated!

I’ve got a pair of Def Tech D9 bookshelves for left and right, and have been trying out center channel speakers.

Would something like a Klipsch RP-504c, with 4 woofers, make sense?

Why I hesitate:

  1. I heard matching is important.
  2. Sensitivity is much different between these speakers.
  3. I love music from my D9s and don’t want them to be totally drowned out

My novice thoughts for why it’d make sense are:

  1. Center channel gets most of movie audio
  2. Wider dimension means more closely aligned to width of screen
  3. Deeper sound from having total 6 woofers vs 4 woofers
  4. Reduction of “tin can” sound of poor quality small center I’ve got

Thanks for any advice! I’m curious of course about my specific situation but also about the idea of pairing large centers with smaller bookshelves in general, as I hope to one day be somewhat serviceable in helping others with setups.

A bit confused by this one. Needed to run it by the community?

I’m guessing it’s the “source” and the display would be connected to my Amp.

Prewiring before some drywall and don’t want to screw this up.

Thanks

Currently have Kef Q series 7.1 set up

Q950 towers Q650c center Side and rears q350 bookshelves Svs PB 16 ultra

Would I see a drastic change in sound (home theater movie application solely) if I upgraded to R series set up?

R11 meta towers R6 meta center (Keeping the 4x q350 bookshelves for sides and surround rears) Svs PB 16 ultra

Powered by demon receive pre amp, and emotiva 200w per Chanel amp.

Any input would be appreciated!!

I’m wanting to add some EQ to my sound. I have a Sony STR DH-770 AVR that’s configured in 7.1 Is there an external EQ device I can use with this ?

Hi guys,

I am new to projectors and I am thinking about buying one. Mostly for movies nights, TV shows, and for some light PS5 gaming. It would be like 80% shows 20% gaming, single-player stuff like Assassins Creed, GoW, and Red Dead Redemption.

I have a smaller room - 3.2 meters wide. Before I was used to watch cheap LCD TV from Samsung for 500$ so I was thinking about buying a TV first. But the max size would be 65" because of the size of the room - plus my wife's approval won't allow me bigger. So I thought that projector might bring me the bigger screen and won't be "ugly" black box on the wall.

I have a "controlled" room with shades so even during the day I can make it pretty dark. I don't have a screen only a white wall from plaster - pretty solid without any dirt or protrusions, white color.

I was thinking about Xgimi Horizon Pro 4k or Xgimi Horizon Ultra. I could get Xgimi Horizon Pro 4k for 1240 USD and Xgimi Horizon Ultra for 1640 USD. So is it worth paying more for ultra? I know it has these pros:

  • Better input lag than Pro 18ms vs 35ms

  • Color correction according to screen/wall

  • New Auto key stoning feature

I know for example BenQ X3000i has better dark scenes and contrast, but It cost 1840 USD and I am not sure if I want to spend that much for a projector. Plus Xgimi is really quiet compared to the competition. Is really Xgimi that much worse for example compared to a cheap TV for 500 bucks?

Thank you
