Getting first HT sub with simple small bookshelf speakers. The speakers play to 60hz (-6dB). I do not have a dedicated AVR but I will be using my dac with rca outs and an old amplifier.

When using SVS PB-1000 Pro RCA passthrough, the LPF only cuts the subwoofers frequencys, right? Will that be a problem or degrade sound quality if there is no crossover or HPF for the bookshelf speaker? I would imagine that making the speakers distort at much lower volumes?

Is this the case and do you think it will matter?

I bought one unit of this speaker thinking that it can be connected through optical cable or Bluetooth but it only has XLR and RCA connection. Also I found out that it usually connected as a pair, Is there a way I can connect it to my TV. I only watch the tv on low volume but I want better clarity than inbuilt speakers. TIA.

So my current set up are Kef Q series, my front left and rights are Q950s, sides and rears are Q350 bookshelves, and sub is SVS Pb16 ultra.

My pre amp is a denon receiver avrx4700H

My amp is a emotiva xpa-7 gen 3 7 Chanel amp.

My current center kef Q650 has the grills all tore and ripped in the front (I watch movies pretty loud) so looking to replace it.

Question. Do I get another Q650 and keep my entire set up in the “Q” series, or do I upgrade to the R2 or even R6 center ?

Is there a significant difference in sound quality from the R2 and R6? This is strictly for Home theater usage.

Thanks for any input!

I currently have a klipsch rp 404C Center. I am a bit limited with space for the center area. I can maybe BARELY fit a rp504c in that space if i got one. Would a rp600c be an upgrade over my current center or would it Be more of a lateral move? Any insight is appreciated. Thanks.

I'm looking to finally set up surround sound in my living room. I'm hoping to get some help in finding a good setup that's also minimal (no floor speakers, low profile receiver that could possibly be hidden in the credenza). I have no idea where to start. I've looked at "Atmos," but don't think that would work in the space.

What would be the best approach to this? In wall/ceiling speakers? Standalone small speakers?

I looked at the Sony HT-A9, but it sounds like they have a lot of connectivity issues.

So, my boss has an AWOL Vision ALR-F220C floor rising UST ALR screen and he has asked me to find out if it is detrimental to the screen to leave it in the up position when not in use.

I really have no experience in home theater products, so I hit up the googles, and I did get the user manual for the screen, and it says that it is recommended to retract it when not in use.

What are y'alls thoughts?

Hey all, I recently moved into a place with 6 ceiling speakers and a Yamaha RX-V395 receiver. The TV is new but the receiver is old so bought an adapter (optical on tv side > rca on avr side) and set the TV to PCM. I have four speakers in the living room connected to the MAIN R and L and then the two further speakers connected to REAR (Surround). When I go to TV/DBS 2ch, I can hear the four speakers under MAIN but not the rear surround speakers. If I hit the TV/DBS button again, it switches to 6ch but none of the speaker work. I can confirm all 6 speakers are working prior to setting up the receiver. Do I need a newer receiver with ARC or am I doing something wrong?

To preface my question, I have an old but good-condition set of Paradigm speakers: Atom/Mini/DSP-3100 sub.

I can understand the reasons for the best possible speakers for music lovers. But I don't do any music listening, only movies and XBOX gaming.

The question is - is it worth upgrading to something significantly more expensive like KEF 350/650 speakers + SVS sub or SVS Prime speakers + SVS sub to get a noticeably better experience in my use cases?

Hi Folks Looking around for a 4k bluray player that's designed to rack mount. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Mostly a vent. Building my first home theater, excited about adding in-ceilings for some sweet sweet Atmos immersion. After reading various reviews, threads, comments, etc about how underwhelming Atmos is, really makes it hard to cut holes in my ceiling for a couple speakers. Guess I'll keep tweaking my 5.2 system. That's all

I am a long time home theater hobbyist, but a first time projector buyer. I’m currently finishing my basement and looking to upgrade from a 77inch LG G2 OLED, to a projector. My basement will likely not be complete until later this year as it is just myself and my father finishing it. I will likely wait to see if JVC is releasing new projectors, but before the drywall goes up, I’m trying to ensure I have everything in place that is needed.

Room dimensions: 15’6”W x 25’6”L x 8’10”H

Speaker configuration: SVS Ultra 7.2.4 surround

Seating: 2 rows x 3 seats (Palliser recliners) 2nd row on a 1.2inch riser

I would like to get the biggest screen possible, and currently, that seems to be around the 138 inch mark (according to audioadvice home theater designer)

The problem I have currently is that I have a structural steel beam intersecting the ceiling at the 14’9” mark which is almost exactly the minimum throw distance needed for most projectors I’m looking at. Only solution I can think of is to hang the projector behind the steam beam, but this may interfere with the rear row of seats. Pictures show the beam, but apologies for the mess as we are mid renovation.

Would also love suggestions for screen aspect ratio as I see more and more people getting 2.40 screens. I expect I would want 16:9 as I watch movies, tv shows and game (PC, xbox, and PS), but open to suggestions.

Looking for any suggestions or ideas anyone might have for this setup. Thanks!

Currently using a Denon X2500 to power B&W 603 (L/R) and B&W HTM6 center channel and dual ELAC subs for mostly TV and movies and music. I just upgraded to a 77" LG C3 and I LOVE it. Was playing PS5 last night though and realized I am not getting 4k/120Hz because of the AVR. Was also thinking about adding surround and a couple height channels. But I've read that 2 heights don't really give you much from Atmos, so a minimum of 4 is required. Does it mean I need to upgrade to a 9 channel AVR that can do 4k/120? Was looking at the Denon X3800h and it looks to check the boxes and not blow the bank. Is that a worthy upgrade for what I'm trying to do?

So when I plug my Rega P1 turntable into the avr phono, I lose about 30 dbs vs when I play songs through Spotify. I need to crank the sound to get anything decent out and it maxes out loudness before it’s proper loud. Is this my avr phono stage sucking? My old only 525 had no volume differences between Bluetooth and phono…
