I currently have a 5.1 setup in my home which is as follows:

Reciver: Yamaha tsr 700

Front Speakers

and 2 rear speakers mounted on the celing

Rear Speakers

I cannot unmount these speakers, but what is the best way to configure these to make them sound the best. Sorry I am new to all of this.

I’m slowly building out a HT system that can double as excellent stereo setup. I’m now on the market for solid rear surrounds that would work well with these Revels - but not that keen on getting the M126be which might be a decent one to select to keep within the Revel family, but it just too expensive for surrounds. The Performa3 s206 perhaps?

Curious what people would recommend for great surround speakers? What should I be looking for in selecting an appropriate and complementary surround speaker? What is generally important for surrounds given the relatively limited use compared to the fronts and center?

Currently I’m planning on using my older Klipsch f30 floorstanding speakers (just replaced these) while searching, or switch back to the s20.

Home theater noob and educating myself-please pardon the ignorance. I am identifying different components for my proposed build. The space is multipurpose use in a finished basement and I can control the lighting. I am planning to buy a laser projector with 3000+ lumen so that family can be in 1 part of the space with lights on while others watch in different part of space. When budgeting, I was planning to buy a “relatively” inexpensive ($500-$750) fixed screen. The primary reason is bc of young kids and the fear of the screen becoming a canvas for crayons and markers. I also cannot do a motorized screen. Are more expensive screens worth it for an uneducated casual dad like me that will be using for movies and live sports for 99% of time?

Finding it very hard to find marketing materials on the speakers and what centers might have been recommended.

I recently purchased a set of Elac Carina BS243.4 bookshelf speakers and a Carina CC241.4 center. The center cannot be placed at a proper height unless I put it on a stand in front of the entertainment center the TV sits on which is not ideal. Raising the TV is also not an option. I am debating whether it would be best to place the center low and angle it up or if I should get a different center speaker that would fit in a higher position. I'm fenced in with a custom entertainment center at least for the time being. My option would be to get a different center that is narrower and would fit closer to ideal height (although it would still be slightly low). Still it is 8" higher than my current option if I get a narrower speaker. That route would lose the more precise model match but I could go with an Elac debut 2.0 C5.2 for example or something else. So am I better matching and angling or replacing and going unmatched but higher placement?

Hi all - I found a listing for a used Panasonic UB9000 for $350 (apparently no problems with it according to owner). I use a PS5 as my current player, with LG C1 and a 5.2.4 speaker setup. Would the UB9000 make a difference and are there any potential issues I should be mindful of? Thanks in advance!

Hello, I have a question. I currently have a Yamaha RX A6A still in its box until I finish my basement. I wired and did cut outs for my 4 ceiling speakers, and I already have my bed layer ready with 5 channels. Here is what I got :

PSB Stratus Silvers for front LR

PSB Alpha Center

PSB Alpha Bookshelves for surround sides

SVS SB1000 pro

KEF ceiling speakers

Im planning on picking up two more used Alpha Bs for 100$ CAD, to add to the rear, and have a complete 7.1.4. Since my Yamaha A6A only powers 9 channels (but processes 11), I would have to purchase a stereo power amp to get those last two channels working.

Should I buy an adequate amp only for the two back channels? Or should I find something more decent for my front Stratuses.

What are recommendations that you guys can think of?

hey all, currently rocking cheapo Lowe’s speaker wire 16 gauge I think. Any benefit to running beefier wire?

Hello all,

My subwoofer - a Kali WS-12 - makes a popping sound every eight seconds. It persists even when it has neither signal in nor out connected, and worries me that there might be a bad cap in the amp.

I recorded the sound it makes; my mic didn't pick it up super well so I boosted it by 20db. In person, it's about the same volume as typing on a keyboard.

If you have any idea what this might be, please let me know!

Thank you!

First time having Atmos speakers. Tested a few different movies and trailers. I hear sound coming from them, it sounds good, but my ears want more from them. They are x4 overhead Micca 8” - I haven’t done it yet, but was considering just adding a bit more volume to them. Speaker distances are calibrated/entered in the receiver. I assume this is the way they’re supposed to be as I’ve always heard ‘not much’ comes from them. Just curious if anyone else bumps their output a bit louder? Thoughts?
