Demand 15 towers: 8 ohm impedance 85.5db sensitivity

D5C center:

8ohms impedance 85.5 db sensitivity

Recommended watts/ channel 30W - 200W

Sitting distance is 10 feet. Room size is 13x16 I would like to add a sub at some point.

I can get the 3800 for 1300Cad and the towers for $700 each, but because these are low db speakers I am wondering if the Denon can power these with ease? I started down the rabbit hole of maybe also needing an external amp to help them out and now I am confused.

I was previously ready to purchase the Klipsch RP6000f, RP500C2 but if the AV and Speakers will work well together then I’ll get the Deftecs

I would like to make either into a 5.1 down the road so would either get Deftec bookshelves also or the RP500m2.

Moved to a new house - and am in the process of building out the theater room. Due to some reasons out of my control, I have to switch to in-wall speakers...

I currently have HSU HB-1 MK2s - that I'll be selling to someone here locally -- but I'm not very familiar with in-wall speakers and how they compare. I've been doing some digging here and it seems like there are a wide variety of opinions (with a couple options that seem to rise to the surface like KEF, B&W, Revel, Monoprice .... but I feel like I'm throwing at a dart board without much reason for those recommendations).

Does anyone have any thoughts (or resources) that can help narrow down a decision? ... part of me wants to just go with the HSU HIW-1 since it uses the same tweeter as my current speakers - but I do have the budget to upgrade right now if there is a quality in-wall speaker out there that can justify the bump up :)

.... Side note - and I should probably just make a separate thread for this

but our room is pretty small (14ftx14ft). I intend to use a 120in screen and put the couch ~10ft back from the screen... One of the guys I work with is saying that I should NOT use all 4 of our atmos speakers and should instead only install 2 in front of us -- due to something about the size of the room. That didn't quite make sense to me and I can't find any details online that agree with that issue.... Any thoughts? Or am I good to still use all 4 atmos speakers (2 behind us and 2 in front)?

Hi everybody, just moved to new house, i'm looking for suggestions to arrange the audio/video setup in a 16mq room. What i already have:

  • Cambridge Topaz AM10 + Mordaunt Short Aviano 1. I'm happy with these, even if 10+ years old. Recently added a Wiim Pro to play music directly from PC/Spotify.

  • LG G3 55'' + Chromecast Ultra. The TV will arrive next days.

I'm looking for a 5.1 surround system, and it would be ok keeping stereo and surround setups separate, BUT: considering a maximum budget of 800€, is there a way to "merge" stereo and surround systems, eventually also putting away Topaz and Aviano? Or maybe I should keep those two and just add more elements to get 5.1?

Music has priority, so downgrades on stereo side are not an option.

If there is no way with this budget, just please suggest me a good 5.1 system under 800 to fully enjoy the LG.

Thank you

I have a LG B9 TV and a Denon 960 receiver. It used to be when I would turn on the TV the receiver would also turn on every time. Over time the receiver has gotten less and less consistent about turning on. It almost never turns on automatically anymore. Anybody have any insights? Does it sound like a TV or receiver issue?

Insignia tv went out. Replaced with Samsung un55cu7000bxza. Hdmi 3(arc) connected to onkyo txnr717 receiver. Same setup as previous tv. The tv and receiver are communicating fine. Turn tv on, receiver powers on. Tv remote volume up is adjusting receiver volume. There is no sound coming out. Tried all 3 hdmi ports, every possible tv setting, and unplugged both units for 20 min. Any advise before I return tv?

Been lurking for a couple years and finally decided to jump in at the middle of the pool:

Denon X3700H (got for a steal)

Polk XT30 Center

2x Polk XT60 Tower

2x Polk XT90 Heights

2x Polk XT20 Surround

SVS PB-2000 Pro (thought I’d splurge)

The last “home theater” I owned was back in college; an Onkyo HT In-A-Box System and that died back in 2015. Since then I’ve been using a JBL Bar 9.1, saving money, and got lucky snagging a X3700H from someone local for $700.

I feel like I’m prepared to embark on my journey, but are there any tips folks have for a relatively green member? (I build PCs professionally, so I consider myself handy, but I’d consider this out of my realm of expertise).

We are moving soon and the new home has a two story great room. Tons of windows. A wall that has the size to do whatever we need. I also have auto blinds going in with will help with light but obviously it’s not going to stop it.

I was originally bought into a UST due to wall size and room size. Due to light was looking at the Epson LS800 which paired with an ALR would do the job at 120”.

Then starting chatting with folks and someone brought up these harder tvs 98” TCL, 100” Hisense, etc.

Overall we watch TV during daylight maybe 20% of the time and the other 80 at night.

What does everyone think is best. Overall pricing today between the 98” tvs and the UST/ALR seem about equivalent. One of my fears was ease of use for kids to turn on projector / screen and operate.

If you went with TV which model would you go for?

If projector is solution in your mind, which?

Thanks!!

I'm upgrading a home theater and have 4 somewhat unrelated questions/advice needed. First thing first, I'm upgrading to a 7.2.4 system in a "bonus" room above a garage. Room is 21.5' x 13', light controlled.

Equipment list:

Projector: Epson LS12000

Reciever: Denon AVR-X4800H

Subs: 2x SVS PB-2000 Pro

LCR: 3x SVS Ultra Tower

L/R Surrounds: 2x SVS Ultra Surround

L/R Rears: 2x SVS Prime Satellite

Atmos: 4x SVS Prime Elevation

On to the questions, and thanks in advance for any advice!

  1. I know that I want an acoustically transparent screen as I will be building a frame out from the wall and putting the tower speakers behind it. Because of my sloped ceilings, I'll be limited to about a 108" max screen size including bezel. I'm leaning toward Stewart and preferably a model with a super thin bezel. I've read weaved is better than perforated for AT. For a light controlled (extremely dark) room, can anyone recommend a screen model and material? I'm guessing I only need 1.0 gain, but I'm a bit at a loss with regards to all of their options.
  2. Regarding the speakers, I've seen some posts recommend a 3-channel amp to power LCR and hooking up the rest to the AVR. I'm leaning more toward buying a 2-channel amp for the rear atmos or surround speakers since I don't plan on listening extremely loud and figure the X4800H can do a good enough job of powering the fronts. Is my logic flawed? If not, can anyone recommend a good 2-channel amp? I've seen some recommendations for Audiosource or Monoprice. Emotiva seems pricey for just powering atmos or rear speakers.
  3. As I mentioned in #1, I have a sloped ceiling which is a challenge for Atmos placement. I was thinking of getting the SVS Prime Elevations and basically using the angle of the speaker to offset the angle of the ceiling so essentially firing down (or at a minimal angle). Any issues anyone sees with doing that?
  4. This last question is pretty specific. I've been reading about LLDV "spoofing" over at AVS Forum here for the LS12000. To do so, it looks like most use an HDFury VRROOM, but I was wondering if anyone has experience with this and their other models. The HDFury Arcana looks to do the same thing with fewer inputs (and cost). The X4800H has HDMI 2.1 so I would think the Arcana would suit my needs since I can hook up all of my sources to the AVR. Thoughts?

If you've read this far you have my sincere appreciation. Thanks again for any input!

I recently bought a Samsung LSP9T to use in my finished basement home theater and on my patio for my outdoor kitchen. I have an audio setup for using it outdoors, which piggybacks off my upstairs Livingroom X4700H. The house was recently renovated and the basement is one of the last projects I need to finish, as now it is cold and I can no longer work/play outside.

I came to r/hometheater a couple weeks back to lurk and see what's recommended these days for at least a 5.1 setup that I need for the basement theater. I saw KEF Meta speakers come highly recommended so I began to look around. I noticed their pretty expensive, so I checked eBay. I found two separate listings for returned R11 Metas with cosmetic damage. The housings had chips and gouges in them from shipping damage, one had one of its legs ripped off, I ended up getting one for $1000 and the other for $1400. I own an autobody repair shop so I am able to fix them just as I would fix a car and restore them to their original cosmetic quality. The sellers assured they function 100% and there are no damage to the actual speakers and accept returns, so I figured why not.

Now that I've taken the plunge on premium front channels, I'm wondering what receiver would be best to drive them, and what other speakers/sub would work nicely in concert with them in the event I am not able to find more discounted Metas that need refinishing. The reason I mention the upstairs receiver in the beginning is because I was wondering if I could use that to drive the speakers down stairs via some kind of speaker selector or if id be better off buying something like a X4800H for the downstairs setup with the KEFs. Sorry for the long winded post, I figured id explain why my starting point is two speakers and nothing else., hence the working backwards
