So I have this TCL S405 55", it is 4K, has HDR and works fine for my use. I don't game a ton honestly, I would say I tend to watch more movies than games but I basically have all consoles from NES to Switch, I don't have a PS5 or Xbox Series X yet. I have a 5.1 surround system with a Denon S760H and a Retrotink 5x Pro for my older consoles to upscale them.

I'm probably looking at an open box Best Buy LG C3 if I go OLED, this would cost me about $1400 after tax. I have the money in an account that is my spending money with some beyond that amount. I don't buy a lot nor do I have a ton of other interests, I have been enjoying building out my home theater but I also don't like spending money, especially a lot on a single item.

Most posts I read say you would never go back after OLED and it is like night and day. I would totally see the upgrade value if I was rocking some 1080p 42" or something but this one seems like a push. Just trying to get some feedback as I try and decide.

which one would you buy for movie watching in a 17 x 18.5 x 9 living room? I’m not looking for IMAX quality sound levels nor am I an audiophile.

Hi guys so right now been trying the Plex htpc app on my pc directly to my avr with hdmi and everything works great getting atmos true hd but i have a projector Epson 4010 home cinema and it doesn’t support 4k60 with hdr only 4k30 so I tried turning on auto refresh rate switch and movies we’re getting choppy or jitter so I turned it off and put directly at 23.976 hz wich helped a lot but still had a little jitter and now trying 30hz seems to be the ideal setting but just want to make sure I’m doing it right anyone else use a projector like this?

Looking for some assistance to replace a very aged Yamaha RX-V465 AVR. Looking at either the Denon 2800 or 3800 as both are currently on sale from Denon until the end of the week.

My setup is as follows:

LG 65CX OLED

Kef Q350c fronts

Kef Q150 rears

Kef Q650 center channel

Single SVS PB1000 sub - looking at adding another down the road potentially.

Xbox Series X

Use is 70% gaming, 30% movies.

Looking at adding potentially two additional speakers to create atmos later this year and an Apple TV4K so the partner can stream (xbox apps are garbage for some stuff).

Outside of the price and power difference is there any reason to go for the 3800 over the 2800? Been searching on here but haven't found any good comparisons between the two.

Thanks.

Buying from someone local for $700 but noticed it goes for factory refurb for $935 after tax. Is $700 worth it when I can buy one that’ll come with a warranty for $235 more?

Also posted to r/soundbars: My girlfriend’s father recently upgraded his home system and gifted us his Bose Soundtouch 300 soundbar. My dad also upgraded his setup a while ago, and had an old Bose Cinemate S1 (sub) kicking around. I’ve taken it, and am failing to figure out if I can somehow get the two hooked up together. Has anyone tried rigging up a similar connection like this or could lend suggestions to doing so? I am not going to be surprised if they are completely incompatible but I figured connecting an auxiliary cord could link them manually somehow…wishful thinking?

Would this be a good starting point for building a family room experience? Don’t want to get a soundbar and but struggling to find reviews for what I want, Aiming for under $2k Aus.

Got so sick of turning off and turning back on this new LG TV with a crap wifi chip set that I finally did a workaround… bought a Wi-Fi extender with an Ethernet port, plugged that in by the TV and now feed the TV via an ethernet cable bypassing that crap WI-FI chipset. Problem solved for less than $30 as I had some spare ethernet cables laying around. I wasn’t going to pack this thing back up and haul it back to the store to return it. My other 2 LG TV’s are 2-3x as far from my router and the signal has to pass through multiple walls. No problems with those. This newest one is about 12’ from the router with 1 wall in between and it would drop Wi-Fi almost hourly. Wi-Fi extender from Amazon search “WiFi Extender Signal Booster for Home, WiFi Range Extender,Repeater with Ethernet Port, Coverage Up to 4500 Square Feet, 1-Tap Setup, Wireless Internet Repeater”.

I have an Epson 4010 and a Onkyo TX-NR6100. Into my receiver I have an Apple TV and ps5. The receiver will only display on the projector through HDMI 2, not the HDMI 1 which is HDCP 2.2. When I plug the receiver into HDMI 1, 1 get no picture, flashing green screen then back to no picture and the projector sort of freezes between green screen and blank screen. I've tried different HDMI cable lengths and manufacturers. If I bypass the receiver then HDMI 1 works for both the Apple TV and PS5. I can't figure it out. I've tried firmware updates on both devices. Unplugging and resetting all devices. Epson says it's the receiver, which I don't doubt. But l've seen numerous reviews from those who've purchased the 4010 and had issue with HDMI 1 and needed the unit replaced. Any help is appreciated!

I’m not a media collector but was considering it along with getting a nice 4k player because I’d like to have the best video/audio quality outputting through my system. Hearing this, my BIL offered access to his Plex server where he has a lot of 4k content. So I’m now wondering if I would be missing anything in terms of audio/video quality if I went this route instead? I’d get the Shield Pro if I went in this direction.

Asking because I’m not that interested in collecting disks, but I would if there was a noticeable difference in quality in any area.

Thank you for any advice!

I don’t have WiFi out here in the sticks so I’m looking for a way to cast shows from my iPhone to my TV via Bluetooth. Any good inexpensive TV recommendations? Thank you.

I recently purchased the denon avr-s760h and I have been looking for the right speakers for my living room.

The living room is an open area that includes the kitchen and the with no walls in between. The space is fairly large but I'm concerned with the sound in the living room area where we have a sectional sofa.

The furniture where the TV and receiver are at is limited in space, mostly for the center speaker based on the specs I have found from various speaker companies. I found the NHT super center 2.1 that would fit the space perfectly. I was also looking at 2x NHT super zero 2.1 bookshelf speakers and 2x NHT Media Series 3-Way Floor-standing Dolby Atmos Tower Speakers.

I am not an expert on the matter, but doing some research I found that if you have Tower Speakers you don't necessarily need a sub.

Any recommendations as to these options or maybe a better option within that same budget which is about 1,500. The only real concern is the placement of the center speaker because the furniture will not allow for the height to be more than 6.5 inches high, and I found quite a few that will not fit the space.
