I have Hisense android tv that is a few years old. Recently it stopped responding to remote input. First I figured it was dead batteries, so I swapped them. Then it happened again so I tried using the Google Home app as a remote and the app connected to the Tv it also was not able to control anything. Literally waited a few minutes and the TV was fine again.

I power cycled the Tv and that didn’t help.

TV has no new software updates.

Only changes I’ve made is installed Apple TV and Crave (it’s how to get HBO in Canada)

Last night we were watching TV, I turned down the volume one notch and it proceeded to go down 3 notches, then up, then down, then way up.

I just ran the factory memory optimizer and cleared the cache. So we’ll see if that does anything.

When it does respond to the remote it is instantaneous and keeps up with multiple rapid clicks like when new

Any thoughts other than it’s a 3 year old Hisense lol?

I got a new Roku and Xbox for Christmas, and trying to figure out if I can get 4K video and still have my 5.1 audio with the equipment I have. Right now I've got a Vizio M60-C3 TV that supports 4K, a Pioneer VSX-21TXH that does not, and a Polk Audio 5.1 speaker setup. My Xbox One, Roku 3, and Switch are all connected to the receiver, which outputs video via HDMI to the TV. I use a Harmony remote to make it easy to use.

Can I hook up the new Xbox Series X, Roku Ultra, and Switch to the TV, and then output audio via HDMI from the TV to the receiver?

Thanks!

I'm looking for a new tv and was hoping to get some guidance as I'm not really up to speed on what's a good TV these days.

I was initially considering the Sony X90L (Best Buy) but after reading some reviews and stuff about the LG OLED TVs, I'm wondering if I should just pay a few hundred more to upgrade to the LG B3 (Best Buy). I know, objectively, that the LG OLED TV is a better TV, with more vibrant colors and everything. I'm just wondering if it's worth the upgrade. The TV will primarily be used for streaming shows/movies. Weekends will be dominated by sports and at least a few hours of gaming.

I did see some posts about being cautious about burn-in when gaming. However, I don't think it should be an issue with either TV as I don't get more than a few hours/week to play with my current schedule.

I'm curious as to what you all think. If I can afford the LG OLED, is it a no brainer? Or is the difference subtle enough that I could save the money, get the Sony X90L and not really miss out.

Tried asking this question on music production subs, as more likely to find someone with experience of this particular piece of kit, but keep getting removed by mods.

Has anyone tried to do this, or know if it’s possible? Thinking of using a multichannel audio interface for my Mac, such as the Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 primarily for recording, but I’d also like to double up my home studio for watching movies.

Instead of buying a separate AVR, I’d like to run movies from my Mac via the 18i20, using powered studio monitors as fronts, also running directly to a powered sub, and then buying basic class D amps for running passive centre channel and rear speakers, therefore providing a 5.1 system.

It feels like it should work in theory, but will it actually sound good in practice?

Hi -

I need to replace the subwoofer in my living room. Due to size constraints I have decided on the PC line from SVS. I'm willing to splurge on the PC4000 if it will sound considerably better. This room has a large amount of cubic feet (20ft ceilings and probably 15'x20'). We do not listen to movies or music above 85db. All things considered would the PC4000 be noticeably better? Thanks for any adivce!

Can anyone let me know how to back up my Zidoo Z1000 Pro's 8TB internal HDD to another HDD for a back-up? Does it involve connecting the original drive to the new one via computer? (I have a Mac, if that makes a difference).

My robot vacuum keeps getting caught on the wires and we keep knocking in to the subwoofer from my home theater in a box. I was wondering if anyone ever put it on a shelve on the wall? I was looking on google image search and got no where. I’ve already got the rear speakers and front speakers mounted.

Thanks.

Hey there, I was wondering if this new quantum dot technology is just in the QLED TV's or also in the QD-OLED ones since these terms are very confusing to me. And what is the technology called where the quantum dots are emissive, which abbreviation was that again that's currently most used?

Atmos Audio takes Minutes until it outputs to Receiver

I have a home theatre system.

Sony 65" X950G TV PS5 Onkyo TX-NR676 Receiver with 5.1.2 set up

PS5 hooked up to TV, then eARC from TV Receiver and Passthrough set.

When I set my PS5 to Dolby Atmos in the audio settings, my receiver "detects" it (it shows atmos on the receiver) but no sound will go through. If I wait a few minutes then sounds will finally go through. My receiver's speaker lights and red dolby light blink, so it seems like it's trying to "detect" the audio. If I change the sound setting on my receiver to anything but Atmos or Direct, it will have sound through it.

If I change the PS5 sound settings to anything other than Atmos (DTS for example). The sound works fine. The receiver will show/play DTS:X.

If my PS5 hooked up to Receiver, Receiver to TV.

Atmos works fine and no issues.

I would prefer to hook my PS5 to my TV first then Passthrough the sound to the receiver because my receiver can only passthrough 4k/60hz vs my TV and PS5 can do 120hz. But maybe I am over thinking it.

Live in apartment, no atmos, just wondering in 5.1 what current thinking is on Surround height, 1-2 feet above? Dolby now saying at ear level? Obviously ear level would be easiest just stands behind couch, could do wall mounted but might have to go with smaller speakers to minimize wall damage since rented.

  1. how do i update the firmware?

  2. how do i connect to the matrix with the pc? i mainly mean what is the utilty and from where i can get it

  3. i want to watch media on tv or projector and use my denon 2600h for audio

the main problem is the projector output. i want to use the optical cable to connect to the recievr

that is where i am stuck.. .can i hear audio from projector and watch on projector?

I did ask once about this, but now that the walls are up and I can get a good picture of the area... asking again. The images are here:

I have the first image with the TV placement, then a video of the area.

I am going to put in a surround receiver and speakers in, the receiver may go in the corner closet or may go under the stairs with the computer equipment. Unsure of that yet. But - based upon this non-standard layout, what type of speakers would work best? I was thinking that there may have to be 2 in the back attached to the ceiling and by the beam.

The only thing I worry about is that if I put speakers *IN* the ceiling, that it would somewhat invalidate the soundproofing (which was resilient channel + insulation + thicker drywall). Thoughts?

Is there a reciver out there that will let me watch a source while listening to another source? Hopefully it won't break the bank either. I used to be a sony fan boy but don't see that feature in any of their offerings

I'm interested in getting the Kef R6 as a centre and was hoping for some advice on how to build out the rest of the system.

Room: 3.5m x 5.8m. The TV is in an alcove 2.4m x 0.5m

L/R - I was thinking of R3s?

Rears - would i regret penny pinching and going with something like Q150s/Q350s?

Sub - The local audio store suggested the Kef KF92 i'm also open to buying two smaller ones.

Ceiling - interested to hear what people suggest

Amp - The audio store suggested the Denon 4800H but after researching to understand amps a little more, i'm wondering if i could get away with something cheaper? 3800H? or another brand/model.

Cable - i work in an engineering firm and everyone tells me expensive speaker cable won't make any difference? do you agree or would you spend money here?

I'll be mostly watching netflix and playing ps5 although may occasionally listen to music.

Thanks in advice for any insights you can lend me

I want to upgrade my current home theater speakers, which are Def Tech ProCenter2000 and Promonitor 1000s, for my LCRs. Though the speakers sound good, I have only had those and want to take my setup to the next level.

I have a basement setup, as you can see from the pictures. As some people suggest, I have plenty of space to add a large center or a 3rd bookshelf as a center. I currently have two SVS PB2000s which I will keep.

I want some recommendations from the group. I have a budget of about $1500 on the high end. I mainly use the speakers for movies and will eventually upgrade my AVR from an older Yamaha to a Denon 3800.

Here is what I am considering:

  1. I can buy a USED KEF Q650c and two Q950s for $1500.
  2. I can buy three KEF LS50 Meta bookshelves due to Best Buy prices right now for about the same price with the intent of selling one. I would use the 3rd as the center.

What would you do, or can you make other speaker recommendations? I know the recommendation part will lead to various answers, but most enthusiasts I read are fans of KEFs so I figure those are safe.
